(Best Syndication News ) - Over $500 million in sales were generated during the first 24 hours after the release of Activision Blizzard’s Call of Duty: Black Ops II. Activision Publishing, Inc., the wholly owned subsidiary of Activision Blizzard, Inc. (Nasdaq: ATVI), made the announcement based on Chart-Track information and internal company estimates.

Bobby Kotick, CEO of Activision Blizzard, Inc., said that they believe Call of Duty is the largest entertainment launch of the year, and also the largest over the last four years. Kotick points out that the Call of Duty franchise exceeded box office sales of movie like Harry Potter and Star Wars. Despite the successful launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops II, Kotick said due to the challenging macro-economic environment that the company is still cautious for the rest of 2012 and 2013.

To help launch Call of Duty: Black Ops II, there were over 16,000 midnight openings at retailers worldwide. The Internet was buzzing about the release with it being a trending topic on Twitter in 23 cities worldwide. Since October 29 2012, over 30 million YouTube video views of the game’s trailer were seen.

Call of Duty: Black Ops II is available on the Microsoft Xbox 360, Sony PlayStation 3, and for Windows PC. Activision expects to have the game release for the Wii U on November 18, 2012.
