Harbor Freight Tools recalls Cordless Drill

Cordless drill being recalled - BSN

(Best Syndication News) - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the voluntary recall of around 108,000 cordless drills that were imported by Harbor Freight Tools. The company announced the recall after receiving one report of a drill overheating and burning through the unit’s handle. The complaint also involved the consumer sustaining a minor injury.

The problem with the cordless drills involves a black trigger switch that could cause the 19.2 volt cordless drill to overheat. If the drill overheats, a potential for fire or burn exists.

The recalled drills were sold nationwide at Harbor Freight Tools retail stores, by mail order catalog, and online at www.harborfreight.com, between April, 2008 and May 2012. They were priced between $27 and $30.

The model number of the recalled drill is 96526. They come with a 19.2v rechargeable battery pack. The drill case is blue and black. The trigger switch is also black. Find the yellow product label placed on the left side of the drill to locate the model number.

Consumers who have the recalled drills are asked to stop using them and take the rechargeable battery out. Then consumers should contact Harbor Freight Tools to get a free replacement drill.

Harbor Freight Tools can be contacted toll-free at (800) 444-3353, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. PT Monday through Friday. More information about the product recall is posted on the company’s website at http://www.harborfreight.com/recall-safety-information.
