Chevy introduces TuneIn Radio App for MyLink

(Best Syndication News) – The Chevrolet Spark and Sonic cars with MyLink will now have TuneIn Radio support, which has over 70,000 stations available to listen to. The TuneIn Radio app will be demonstrated at the 2013 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) this week by General Motors Company (NYSE:GM). TuneIn and two other apps are being added to MyLink to enhance the entertainment and connectivity options.

A 2014 Spark EV vehicle will be on display at CES and Chevrolet reps will be on scene to demonstrate the new features. TuneIn radio works with a smartphone app on a mobile device and connects with the MyLink Radio via Bluetooth. The 2013 Spark LT, 2013 Sonic RS, and 2013 Sonic LTZ models come standard with the MyLink Radio. The 2014 Spark EV, which is expected to be available this summer, will also have MyLink as a standard feature.

Using the TuneIn service on the MyLink Radio will let a person in Los Angeles listen to a station in New York City on the car’s speaker system. Radio stations around the world are available through TuneIn.

“We listened to customers around the world when we developed MyLink for Spark and Sonic, and we believe TuneIn will be a big hit with those who crave customized connectivity and entertainment,” said Cristi Landy, director, Chevrolet small cars and electric vehicles. “Our Spark and Sonic buyers will have a fantastic solution for tuning in to their favorite radio stations from around the world.”

MyLink vehicle owners need to download a free TuneIn Radio app that that is placed on a compatible mobile phone.

Two more Smartphone apps, BringGo and Apple’s Siri intelligent assistant, are will eventually be supported with the MyLink audio system. BringGo is a full-function navigation system that can direct drivers to sights-to-see and the nearest hospital. Siri will let people ask questions verbally and get answers spoken back to them. Siri support with MyLink is currently being expanded for Apple iPhone users with the iOS 6 operating system.

Apple’s Siri is being developed to work as an eyes free app. Once connected to MyLink, Siri will listen for verbal prompts and will automatically converse with the user.

Two embedded apps that are already available for MyLink are Pandora Internet radio and Stitcher Smart Radio.
