(Best Syndication News) - Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN) has launched support for their Amazon Instant Video app on the Nintendo Wii game console. On November 18, 2012, Amazon released the app for the Nintendo Wii U game console and this latest support is for the previous model.
Amazon Instant Video has over 145,000 movies and TV shows available to watch. The app allows Amazon Prime subscribers to watch over 33,000 movies and TV shows on the Nintendo Wii game console. The Prime membership ($79 per year) gives upgrades on shipping and unlimited viewing of specific movies and TV shows.
A Prime membership is not necessary to watch movies through Amazon Instant Video. Customers can purchase, or rent over 145,000 movies and TV episodes one-at-a-time.
The app lets users search and browse for titles at the TV set. Customers can purchase or rent shows on their TV set, making it easy to use. Amazon Prime clients can use a Watchlist to organize the shows that they want to watch next. For customers who purchase movies, there is the “Your Video Library,” which makes it easy to find these titles. Parental Controls and Kid Zone features have been included in the app. These features will limit titles to family friendly ratings and will help find age appropriate shows. The Whispersync feature will let users move from one device to another and pick up where they left off on the show.
The Amazon Instant Video app is free. To get the app on the Nintendo Wii, customers need to visit the Wii Shop Channel and download and install it on the game console.
