Bugaboo Stroller recall announced for Carry Handle Replacement
(Best Syndication News) - Bugaboo Cameleon and Bugaboo Donkey Model Strollers are being recalled because the carrying handle could fail. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Health Canada have announced the voluntary recall of around 46,300 strollers in the U.S. and 4,440 in Canada.
The importer, Bugaboo Americas, announced the recall after receiving 58 reports that the carrying handle detaching unexpectedly. No injuries were reported to the company.
A button in the handle could break loose posing a choking hazard and the handle could detach unexpectedly causing the child to fall. Replacing the carrying handle is expected to prevent potential choking hazards and fall dangers. Bugaboo International B.V., located in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, is the manufacturer of the Bugaboo strollers.
The strollers were sold at Buy Buy Baby, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Toys R Us, and other specialty baby retail store locations nationwide. The strollers were also sold online at Bugaboo.com and at other online retailers. The recalled Bugaboo Cameleon strollers were sold between September 2009 and June 2012 at around $980. The recalled Bugaboo Donkey strollers were sold between January 2011 and December 2012 at a price range of $1,200 to $1,600.
The strollers being recalled are the models that have the carry handles – the Bugaboo Cameleon and Bugaboo Donkey models. The strollers have a base, and a sun canopy, and came in a variety of colors. The model name is found on a fabric label on the side of the sun canopy. The serial number is printed on the stroller’s frame under the carrycot seat. The serial numbers involved in the recall are listed below.
Consumers who have the recalled strollers should take off the carrying handle from the stroller. They can use the stroller without the handle while they wait for a replacement piece.
