Stroke Cost Estimated at $2.2 Trillion By 2050 – Blacks and Hispanics Hit Hardest – Study Says

Michigan researchers say that the estimated cost of caring for stroke patients in the US will exceed $2.2 trillion dollars between 2005 and 2050. Dr. Devin Brown says “The economic burden of stroke in African Americans and Hispanics will be enormous over the next several decades.” Brown is with the Stroke Program at the University of Michigan Medical School in Ann Arbor. She adds, “Further efforts to improve stroke prevention and treatment in these high stroke risk groups are necessary.”
