[Best Syndication] If you are on the West Coast of the United States you will have an opportunity to view a total lunar eclipse this night. The peak time to see the complete eclipse is 3:37 a.m. early in the Tuesday morning hours.

The beginning of the eclipse will start just a few hours after midnight. What makes this eclipse unique is that Earth is directly between the moon and the sun. The duration is also exceptional, lasting over four hours. The moon is expected to be shadowed by Earth for around 90 minutes during the peak time of the eclipse.

While the Earth is casting a shadow on the moon, you will expect to see a reddish or brownish glow around the moon. The glowing light is caused by the sun casting light around planet Earth.

[Best Syndication] Brad Pitt did an interview with Today Show’s Ann Curry to discuss the importance of rebuilding New Orleans and building green or environmentally friendly housing. The first part of the interview aired this Wednesday on the Today show, and the second part will be airing on Thursday.

Brad Pitt is involved with Global Green USA project which aims to build houses that are good for the environment. Pitt got involved with the organization he tells Curry by saying, “Little steps like this-- I'm proud of it because it helps create a dialogue. It brings more knowledge and puts in-- puts these ideas into practice. There's a lot of people doing it, and we're happy to be a part of it.”

Curry asked Pitt why make the housing in New Orleans environmentally friendly. Pitt said, “The first thing that gets sacrificed in affordable housing is lights, ventilation. You see here we got great light. There's windows everywhere. There is this great breeze coming in...And I think, for the family that's going to be here, especially being a father, that it's got to feel good to know that he's giving his family a better way of life. That he's able to contribute that way. Not only that, this house does not poison the environment.”

Projected Path

(Best Syndication) Hurricane Dean is bearing down on the southern portion of Jamaica at this time. The category-4 hurricane is huge, measuring nearly 400 miles in diameter. Southern Jamaica can expect gusts in excess of 140 mph into Sunday night. So far the northern portion of the island near Montego Bay has not been hit as hard and wind gusts of 85 mph are expected.

The projected path of the hurricane is becoming clearer now. Last week, Best Syndication reported that some computer models predicted Dean would travel over the northern portion of the island. It now appears that the capital and the southern portion of Jamaica will take the brunt of the damaging winds.

Dean Projected Path

(Best Syndication) The first hurricane of the season, Dean, has blown into the Caribbean Sea knocking out power and causing landslides in the Lower Antilles. Some projections have the hurricane becoming a category 5 hurricane upon entering the Gulf of Mexico. The National Hurricane Center in Miami says Dean is currently a category 3 storm.

Hurricane hunters have entered the storm and have reported wind speeds of 125 knots (140 mph). Since the winds are faster at higher altitudes they calculate the winds at sea level to be about 125 mph. Currently Dean is headed towards Cancun and then possibly towards Texas or Cuba. Over the past couple hours the models have shifted the direction of the storm to the north of Jamaica. Even some models have it going even further east towards New Orleans.
