7.7 Magnitude Earthquake shakes off West Coast Island of Canada

(Best Syndication News) - A 7.7 magnitude earthquake shook off the west coast of Canada near the Queen Charlotte Islands Region on Saturday at 8:04 PM Pacific Time. The region has had many aftershock earthquakes, with several measuring over 5.0 magnitude.

The US Geological Survey reported that the 7.7 magnitude event occurred 86 miles south of Masset, Canada. The exact location of the tremor was at 52.769°N, 131.927°W. A tsunami warning announcement was issued for Hawaii by the NOAA’s West Coast and Alaska Tsunami Warning Center soon after the earthquake. The tsunami warning has since ended.

4.0 Magnitude Earthquake trembles near Waterboro, Maine

(Best Syndication News) - A 4.0 magnitude earthquake shook near Waterboro, Maine today, October 16, 2012, at 7:12 pm local time to the event. The US Geological Survey the epicenter was 4 miles north-northeast of the city.

People in the Maine-New Hampshire area reported feeling the tumbler. Reports came in from as far away as Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, and Vermont.

The location of the earthquake was at 43.592°N 70.676°W with a depth of 4.1 miles. The US Geological Survey explained that residents of New England have felt earthquakes as far back as the colonial times. They estimate that around two moderately damaging earthquakes every decade can be expected. The largest-magnitude earthquake that has been documented was approximately a 6.5 magnitude tremor in 1638 in Vermont or New Hampshire.

SpaceX launches first Commercial ISS Cargo Mission for NASA

(Best Syndication News) - The SpaceX Dragon spacecraft has been successfully launched today carrying-out a cargo mission for NASA and SpaceX. This is the first flight using SpaceX as a commercial service to deliver items to and from the International Space Station (ISS) for NASA.

Space Exploration Technologies, or SpaceX, is based out of Hawthorne, California. SpaceX’s launch of Dragon is the first Commercial Resupply Services mission, or CRS-1, for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. The Dragon capsule was launched from a Falcon 9 rocket at 8:35 pm EDT on Sunday, October 7, 2012. The rocket had nine engines that lit the sky as it took off from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida. There were no problems at lift-off.

6.2 Magnitude Earthquake rocks the Gulf of California Region Today

(Best Syndication News) - A sizeable 6.2 magnitude earthquake shook off the shores near La Paz, Mexico in the Gulf of California region today. The tremor occurred at 5:45 pm local to the event on September 25, 2012. The US Geological Survey reported this earthquake and several aftershocks in the region.

The location of the earthquake was at 24.835°North and 110.152°West at a depth of 6.3 miles. The nearest city, La Paz, was 47 miles southwest of the epicenter. La Paz, a getaway location for tourists, has a population estimated to be around 215,000.

Space Shuttle Endeavour flight to LAX rescheduled to arrive on September 21

(Best Syndication News) - The NASA Space Shuttle Endeavour will be arriving in Los Angeles this week. There was an announcement made today rescheduling the flight day to carry the Endeavor to the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). The flight was rescheduled for Wednesday, September 19 from September 18, due to an undesirable weather forecast along the way. The 747 Shuttle Carrier Aircraft (SCA) will carry the Endeavor on top of it and it should arrive in Los Angeles on Friday, September 21, 2012.

The decision to reschedule was made by NASA and the California Science Center. The flight path between Houston, Texas and Florida has been unfavorable this week.
