Earthquakes shake in Mexico, offshore of Oregon, and Alaska

(Best Syndication News) - Today was an unusually active day for sizeable earthquakes over the 5.0 magnitude rating. Besides the Indonesian earthquake with numerous aftershocks, there also was a 6.5 magnitude earthquake near Michoacán, Mexico, a 5.9 magnitude tremor off the Oregon coast, and a 5.5 magnitude quake at the Aleutian Islands, Alaska, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS).

A 7.0 Magnitude Earthquake in Mexico was downgraded to 6.5 rating later by the USGS government agency. The location of the center of the event was 18.272°N, 102.732°W. The earthquake was only 38 miles from the city of Las Guacamayas, 39 miles from the city of La Orilla, and 41 miles from the city of La Mira. The popular vacation city of Acapulco was 210 miles away from the earthquake’s epicenter. Residents as far as Mexico City reported feeling the earthquake. There was only some light damage reported to the USGS.

(Best Syndication News) - A large 7.1 magnitude earthquake shook near Maule, Chile today. The US Geological Survey (USGS) recorded the event as moderate to heavy for potential damage and the shaking as very strong to severe. The earthquake occurred on Sunday, March 25, 2012 at 06:37:06 PM local time for the event. At first, the event was recorded at a 7.2 magnitude, but was later downgraded by the USGS to a 7.1 magnitude event.

The earthquake epicenter was located 16 miles north-northwest of the event in Talca, Maule, Chile. The city of Curico was 34 miles away, and the city of Cauquenes was 61 miles from the earthquake's epicenter. The city of Santiago was 136 miles from the earthquake.

The USGS reported the exact location of the event at 35.198°S, 71.783°W, with a depth of 18.6 miles.

The earthquake was located on the coast of Chile. With this magnitude earthquake it is common for sizable aftershocks over 5.0 or higher magnitude to occur.

(Best Syndication News) - A large 7.4 magnitude earthquake let loose in Oaxaca, Mexico today at 12:02 PM (local time). The earthquake was followed by many aftershocks measuring between 5.0 to 5.3 magnitude. The US Geological Survey (USGS) received hundreds of reports of people in Mexico City who felt the tremor, which is about 200 miles from the epicenter of the earthquake.

The USGS recorded the location of the 7.4 magnitude earthquake at 16.662°N, 98.188°W at a depth of 12.4 miles. The earthquake was centered at 84 miles southwest of the nearest city of Huajuapan de Leon, Oaxaca, Mexico. The event was 100 miles west-southwest of the city of Oaxaca.

Mall of America celebrates the Grand Opening of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Shell Shock Ride

(Best Syndication News) - Today, the Mall of America celebrated the grand opening of Nikelodeon Universe’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Shell Shock ride. The GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS was at the grand opening because fans of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles came out dressed as ninja turtles in an attempt to break a previous record of 786 people dressing up at one time in the costumes. The new record was set today as 836 fans dressed up as ninja turtles.

Nickelodeon Universe marketing director, Jennifer Lauerman, said in a statement that they were amazed at how many people showed up for the grand opening event.
