Half Trillion Added To Deficit By Bush Administration – Senate Passes Iraq War Funding Bill With Thousands Of Earmarks

President Bush

(Best Syndication) The US Senate passed a budget bill late Tuesday night that includes funding for the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. Senate Democrats were unable to tie a troop withdrawal to the budget measure, although they tried on two other occasions.

The $555 billion bill passed the Senate 76-17 at 11 pm Eastern Time. It includes thousands of earmarks by both parties. President Bush said he would sign off on the bill. Although this massive spending bill adds hundreds of billions of dollars to the deficit, President Bush is expected to pass the responsibility of repayment on to future administrations.

Ron Paul

(Best Syndication) Fox News, which has long been considered the Republican branch of the mainstream media, made a huge splash over a Nevada brothel owner supporting Ron Paul (see video below).

The fair and balanced investigators at Fox could have interviewed such thinkers as Gary North, Paul Craig Roberts, or William Lind to explain the populist appeal that Paul has attracted. Instead Fox considered a brothel owner to give a fair and balanced view of the more than 37,000 people who donated to Paul's campaign in a 24 hour period.

Fox News' choice of representatives for Paul supporters recalls GOP rolling out a white supremacist from Jacksonville, Florida, to represent the people who were gravitating to the Pat Buchanan presidential campaign in 1996.

(Best Syndication) One man was acquitted and the charges against six others were declared a mistrial in the case of Chicago Sears Tower terror plot. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) had presented tape recordings which they claim was evidence that the seven men were planning to knock the Sears Tower over causing a disastrous tidal wave in Lake Michigan.

The case rested on two confidential informants working with the FBI. One of them posed as an al-Qaeda member. The leader of the accused group, Narseal Batiste, testified that he only wanted the $50,000 but did not want to blow up the Sears Tower. He described the plot as outlandish.

The judge ordered a mistrial for the 33 year old Batiste and Patrick Abraham, 28; Stanley Phanor, 32; Burson Augustin, 22; Rothschild Augustin, 24; and Naudimar Herrera, 23. If convicted they faced 70 years in prison.

(Best Syndication) Now that Mike Huckabee has moved up in the polls, Presidential candidate Mitt Romney is taking aim at the former Arkansas governor (see video below). In a television advertisement Romney says that Huckabee is soft on illegal immigration. The ad begins by highlighting similarities between the two candidates, including the fact that both are pro-life and have strong family values.

But then the ad highlights the differences. “Mitt Romney stood up and vetoed in-state tuition for illegal immigrants. Opposed driver’s licenses for illegal immigrants,” the announcer proclaims. “Mike Huckabee supported in-state benefits for illegal immigrants. Huckabee even supported taxpayer supported scholarships for illegal aliens.” See the video below:

[Best Syndication] President Hugo Chavez set up a new time zone for Venezuela. Chavez told citizens to turn back their clocks 30 minutes this past Sunday in order to optimize daylight hours and to allow children to wake up to sunshine instead of darkness.

What seems so innocent is causing political tongues to go wild as Chavez is been seen as an ever controlling socialist leader who attempts to control too much.

Chavez has redesigned the national flag and has renamed the country to the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. Chavez is also going to be changing its currency to a Bolivar in 2008.
