[Best Syndication]The future of video rental was announced yesterday at MacWorld conference with Apple offering online movies that people can get with Apple TV or online. While the service is available at itunes.com there is some good and some bad features about Apple’s new movie rental business.

This announcement prompted Blockbuster and Netflix shares to fall following Apple's movie rental news. But it really isn’t the end of regular DVD rentals and movie by mail rentals. Apple is not addressing all the needs of all the consumers.

Netflix does have a section of movies that you can download, but they are old movies that you probably already have seen. So you still have to count on the mailed movie rentals from them. With the competition being brought to a new level this could change.

700MHz Antena

(Best Syndication) So what kinds of businesses can Google get into? Well, with the advertisers and money that the company has, pretty much anything they want, and they have announced on Friday that they would make a bid in the U.S. Federal Communications Commission's auction of the 700 megahertz band wireless spectrum.

The 700MHz spectrum is desirable because the airways can travel further and penetrate walls easier. This spectrum could be the new frontier for the wireless internet and give Google the opportunity to set the standard. The auction is scheduled to begin on January 24th, but the company has made and is making the necessary preparation for that auction. More Down Below:

Google Provides More Great Technology – GPS Simulation For Web Enabled Cell Phones

(Best Syndication) You don’t have GPS on your computer or cell phone? No problem, because Google has developed a simulated GPS experience on your cell phone using information broadcast from mobile phone towers. “My Location” extrapolates your approximate location by information provided by the phone companies.

It is accurate to within 10 city blocks. The company is still in the Beta version for this technology. "It's not GPS, but it comes pretty close (approximately 1000m close, on average)," Google reports. The system works on web-enabled phones including Java, BlackBerry, Windows Mobile, and Nokia/Symbian devices. Apple iPhone users can not take advantage of the service yet.
