GE Recall – Front Loading Clothes Washing Machine being recalled for Fire and Shock Problem

(Best Syndication News) - GE Appliances have recalled around 181,000 of their Front-Load Clothes Washing machines because of a possible fire and shock threat that could happen. The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) says that owners of the recalled GE washing machines should stop using them and unplug them from the power. The consumer can then contact the GE to schedule a free repair to fix the problem.

The problem in the washing machine is a wire that could break lose and make contact with a metal part of the unit. This connection could cause the machine to catch fire or create shocks while it is being operated. There hasn't been and people injured from the defect, but there has been seven complaints to GE of flames escaping the machine and causing minor smoke damage.

McDonald's Shrek Glasses being recalled - CPSC

(Best Syndication News) - The McDonald's collectible Shrek Movie Themed glasses are being recalled because the decals on the glasses contain cadmium, which is know to cause adverse health effects after prolonged exposure. The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is recommending anyone that owns these Shrek drinking glasses to stop using them, and they are reminding people that it is also illegal to sell or resell these glasses because of the health hazard they pose.

Cadmium a natural occurring element found in rocks and soil, but can become toxic to humans after being exposed to the chemical for too long. According to the CDC, Chronic cadmium exposure primarily affects the kidneys and secondarily the bones.

Dishwasher Recall – Maytag recalls 1.7 million units due to Fire Hazard

Maytag Dishwasher Recall - Locating Serial Number - CPSC

(Best Syndication News) - Maytag Corp. along with the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced a voluntary recall of dishwashers manufactured under seven different brand names due to a fire hazard risk. The CPSC asked for consumers involved in this recall to stop using their dishwasher until told otherwise by the manufacturer.

The recalled dishwashers were sold between February 2006 through April 2010 for between $250 and $900 nationwide at major retailers. The dishwasher involved in the recall are the ones with the colors of either black, bisque, white, silver and stainless steel front panels.

Maytag has received 12 reports of dishwashers with heating elements failing and catching on fire. Only one had extensive kitchen damage from the fire while the others had the damage just to the dishwasher itself. There have been no personal injuries reported from this recall.

Hoover® WindTunnel T-Series™ Bagless Upright Vacuum Cleaners with Cord Rewind Feature - CPSC.gov

(Best Syndication News) - Hoover along with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC)have issued a voluntary recall for one of the WindTunnel vacuum cleaners. The power cord could come loose from the Hoover WindTunnel T-Series Bagless Upright Vacuum cleaner that has the cord rewind feature which could cause a fire or electric shock danger. The CPSC has asked owners of this vacuum cleaner to stop and contact Hoover for a free repair of the problem.

The vacuum cleaner model that is being recalled is the Hoover® WindTunnel T-Series™ Bagless Upright Vacuum Cleaners with Cord Rewind Feature. They were sold nationwide at department stores, vacuum retailers, and mass merchandisers both and stores and online from August 2009 through May 2010 at the retail prices from $100 to $160.

There are around 108,000 of these models involved in the vacuum cleaner recall. So far, Hoover has received three reports of minor burns to carpet and furniture. There was one report of a minor burn on their hand.
