Discover survey finds consumers plan to spend less in January

(Best Syndication News) - Discover Financial Services (NYSE: DFS) found lower-income consumers were less confident on the economy and their personal finances in December 2012. The monthly survey dubbed “Discover U.S. Spending Monitor” showed a 4.3-point decline to 91.1 points for the month of December. This could translate into less post-season spending.

The Discover survey found 15 percent of the respondents rated the economy as good or excellent, which was a 3-point decline from November 2012. However, in December 2011, only 9 percent that thought the economy was doing well. Thirty-two percent of the consumers surveyed think the U.S. economy will improve, which was 3-percentage points lower than the previous month.

Amazon’s Third-Party Sellers increased Unit Sales by over 40 percent

(Best Syndication News) - Amazon.com (NASDAQ: AMZN) announced today that over 2 million third-party sellers worldwide sold on their website in 2012. The third-party holiday seller unit sales have grown to over 40 percent compared to the same time in 2011. Over the entire 2012 year, Amazon third-party sellers worldwide have sold hundreds of millions of units valued in the tens of billions of dollars.

Peter Faricy, VP for Amazon Marketplace said that their website serves over 188 million active customers throughout the world.

Third-party sellers can fulfill the orders themselves or they can use Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA). If a seller uses the FBA service, Amazon will ship their products for them. Sellers utilizing FBA can also opt to offer the buyer FREE Super Saver Shipping on their items. Amazon also handles the returns and the customer service issues.

More than Two Million Ford branded Vehicles sold in 2012

(Best Syndication News) - Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) announced today that they project 2.2 million vehicles will be sold under the Ford brand in 2012. This is the second year-in-a-row Ford will have sold over 2 million vehicles. The Ford Motor Company is the only U.S. manufacturer to exceed 2 million units since 2007.

In the global market, Ford's bestselling vehicle remains the Focus. Using information gathered through September 2012, the automotive data and marketing company, POLK, said the F-Series ranked fourth and the Fiesta was at number 5 in their global top-10 ranking. Focus was the number one best selling car in the world, according to POLK.

GM buying back 200 million Shares of Common Stock from U.S. Treasury

(Best Syndication News) - General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) announced today that they will be buying back 200 million shares of GM common stock from the U.S. Department of the Treasury. The transaction will be for $27.50 per share – totaling $5.5 billion. The company will buy back 200 million shares out of the 500.1 million shares owned by the government. The buyback is expected to occur by the end of 2012.

GM’s buyback announcement parallels the Treasury’s plan to exit entirely from holding GM stock within the next 12 to 15 months. The exit plan is subject to market conditions.

Office Depot adds PayPal payments for Online Shoppers

(Best Syndication News) - Office Depot, Inc. (NYSE:ODP) announced the addition of PayPal payments for shoppers at their website. The service is up and running today and customers can opt for PayPal as a payment method during checkout.

PayPal is an eBay Inc. (NASDAQ:EBAY) owned company that processes payments. The shopper can enter in their credit card, bank information, billing, and shipping addresses in Paypal and not have to continue to do this at every website that they shop at. All that is needed is for the user to sign into their PayPal account to approve the transaction. Additionally, customers do not need to have a PayPal account to use this payment method.
