Office Depot opens New Concept Stores in Denver

(Best Syndication News) - Office Depot (NYSE: ODP) has opened four new stores in Denver, Colorado that will change the shopping experience from what one would come to expect at the office supply store. Two stores are already open and two more will open in December.

The new stores are laid-out differently than before. Office Depot used customer input to redesign their store experience and layout. The new stores will have PC bars that allow people to come and hook up their computer. They will offer free self-serve coffee during certain times of the day (8 a.m. – 10 a.m., and 3 p.m. – 5 p.m. on weekdays.) If you do not have a computer, you can rent time on one of their computers.

AT&T to invest $14 Billion in Wireless and Wired Broadband Infrastructure

(Best Syndication News) – Today AT&T announced a plan to invest $14 billion over the next three years to expand their 4G LTE network and wired IP Broadband network. The expanded coverage will help create faster Internet speeds for consumers throughout the United States.

AT&T estimates that around 300 million people will be covered by the 4G LTE wireless broadband network by the end of 2014. Around $8 billion has been allocated for wireless initiatives.

The wired-IP broadband network coverage will also be expanded to 75 percent of their customer locations in AT&T’s 22-state wired phone service area by the end of 2015. Around $6 billion has been set aside for wireline expansion.

East Coast recovers after Hurricane Sandy

(Best Syndication News) - The U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced today that President Obama has declared an emergency for the four states that were affected by Hurricane Sandy and the major storm yesterday. The government is now in disaster recovery mode.

Many residents up and down the East coast are experiencing power outages and gas service interruptions. The hardest hit area was Narragansett/Warwick, Rhode Island with 115,298 customers without power, as of 6 am on Tuesday morning. In New York, an estimated 21,000 customers are without power. In the area of Worcester, Brockton, Haverhill, Bridgewater and Fall River in Massachusetts there was still 209,834 customers without power as of 6 am on Tuesday.

Downed trees and debris need to be cleared while the power companies work to restore power. The National Grid also reported disruptions. Throughout Newport & Westerly, Rhode Island, 686 gas customers reported problems related to the flooding.

PayPal to Layoff 325 Employees

(Best Syndication News) - EBay Inc. (NASDAQ: EBAY) announced layoffs of 325 employees from their PayPal business. This is part of eBay’s planned fourth quarter pretax restructuring. Paypal will also be ending around 120 contracts globally.

The 325 employees were notified today of the elimination of their jobs, the majority of which were in the product and technology department. The PayPal business is being consolidated from nine product groups into a single group. EBay said that reorganizing PayPal will help to improve the product development process.

Domino’s Pizza opens 10,000th Store in Turkey

(Best Syndication News) - Domino’s Pizza announced that they have reached a milestone by opening their 10,000th store in Istanbul, Turkey today. The company started their first location almost 53 years ago in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Domino’s Pizza is a mix of franchises and company-owned stores.

To celebrate their 10,000th store, Domino’s President and Chief Executive Officer, J. Patrick Doyle, was present for the grand-opening event. According to Domino’s Pizza, Turkey is one of the fastest growing markets for them.
