Tesla Motors buys Recently closed Fremont California Automotive Plant

[Best Syndication News] Tesla Motors has acquired the recently closed NUMMI factory in Fremont, California were they will be begin manufacturing their Model S sedan and the other future vehicle models. The NUMMI plant was closed in April of 2010 by Toyota who had the Corolla and Tacoma automobiles manufactured at this plant.

According to a report in the L.A. Times, city officials from Downey, California are disappointed about Tesla Motors acquiring the Northern California location. The Southern California city officials were hoping that Tesla Motors would have signed a lease agreement this Friday for a closed facility location that used to manufacturer space shuttle parts.

Memorial Day Weekend Travel - AAA expects a 5.4 percent Increase

[Best Syndication News] Memorial Day travel is one of the busiest holidays for getting away on either a vacation or a day trip. You can generally expect heavier traffic and busier airports as people take advantage of the holiday. According to AAA, they are predicting that 2010 Memorial Day travel will increase by 5.4 percent from the previous year. Last Year there was an estimated 30.5 million people that traveled during Memorial Day weekend.

AAA attributes the anticipated increase of travel because of the economy seeing improved performance from last year at the same time. They say that more people will be willing to take a memorial day vacation if they are doing better financially. Their AAA Travel Service division has also seen double-digit increase for memorial day travel reservations for tours, cruises and hotel bookings.

Government Home Loan Modification Program - Free Event in San Bernardino

[Best Syndication News] Obama's government home loan modification program is hosting a free event in San Bernardino, California, at the National Orange Show Events Center on May 14th and May 15th. This event will run from 1 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, and 9 a.m. To 3 p.m. on Saturday. Parking will be complimentary and there is no cost to attend the event.

The Help For Homeowners Community Event will make it possible for homeowners that are struggling to make their monthly mortgage payments to talk with lenders in person. There also will be HUD approved housing counselors at the event to help determine if a homeowner can qualify for a home loan modification.

Prop 17 California Auto Insurance Rates Higher or Lower

[Best Syndication News] The debate has been heating up between those for and against the Proposition 17 auto Insurance reform on the June 8th Ballot. Largely supported by Mercury General Corp. the measure wants to extend deep discounts to new customers that have had the same insurance for the past five years. The opponents to Proposition 17 see this as a way for auto insurance companies to tack on huge surcharges if it goes through.

According to the Consumer Watchdog group they have received a letter that Mercury Insurance Company asking for policyholders to vote in favor of proposition 17. In addition, Mercury has begun advertising on TV for the passage of Prop 17. The Consumer Watchdog points out that Proposition 17 would make it possible for insurance companies to raise the rates. They continue to say that there was a lawsuit that was filed against both the Attorney General and consumer advocates by Mercury because they wanted to prevent information regarding rate increases from being printed in the voter's guide. Mercury had lost the court battle and the voter's guide will read “will allow insurance companies to increase cost of insurance to drivers who do not have a history of continuous insurance coverage.”

Walmart completes First Windmill Farm in Sam's Club Parking Lot in Palmdale

[Best Syndication News] Sam's Club in Palmdale, California is the first location that Walmart decided to install micro wind turbines on the tops of parking lot light poles to generate alternative energy. The construction is complete and the 17 wind turbines are generating electricity as of today.

The Palmdale location of Sam's Club was chosen as a test location because of the large amounts of wind in the area. The micro windmill turbines installed at this location are estimated to capable of generating 76,000 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of energy every year. That is enough electricity to power six average sized American homes for one year.

Walmart has also invested in solar energy projects at 28 Walmart and Sam's Club locations in California. They also have two fuel cell installations at two Walmart stores in the same state.

They will be installing another pilot location with wind turbines in Worcester, Massachusetts, at their Walmart store location, which will be completed in the early part of May.

Walmart will continue to consider other locations to install wind turbines in parking lots.
