Anthem Blue Cross of California being sued by Consumer Watchdog Group

[Best Syndication News] Anthem Blue Cross recently raised health insurance policy premiums up to 39 percent on some individual health plans, which has caused government as well as others to take notice. The Consumer Watchdog organization has filed a lawsuit today against Anthem Blue Cross because of the rate hike and forcing policy holders into less coverage because of the excessive rate hike.

Anthem Blue Cross is a subsidiary of WellPoint Inc., which is the largest health insurance provider in the United States. The lawsuit filed today against the corporation is accusing them of increasing monthly rates, so much as to force consumers into lower-benefit coverage with higher-deductibles. The Consumer Watchdog group is saying that this is a violation of state law and the lawsuit is being filed by Blue Cross policyholders as well as consumer advocates.

Los Angeles Attorney General investigating Health Insurance Companies Rate Hikes and Claim Denials

Brown Jr. announced that his office has subpoenaed financial records and other documents from seven of the largest health insurance companies in California to further investigate unwarranted rate hikes and denial of coverage cases.

Brown said that this investigation into the unfair practices of these health Insurance companies have been going on for several months. Brown said, "Not only are the rate increases devastating to Californians strapped by the economy, but in some cases, they are possibly illegal."

Childhood Obesity Problem - Public School Proposals addressed by California Governor Schwarzenegger

[Best Syndication News] The California budget crunch is on, but California Governor Schwarzenegger has addressed methods to reduce obesity in children who live in state. The outlined goals were announced today as he attended a summit on childhood obesity with President Clinton at the Governor’s 2010 Summit on Health, Nutrition and Obesity: Actions for Healthy Living.

The Governor talked about these proposals to ward of Childhood Obesity:

With schools getting extra money from vending machines put into their schools it will be difficult for schools to let them go as school systems are experiencing budget shortfalls in huge proportions. The governor proposes that there be access for students to have fresh and free drinking water available to them in schools. Water is not typically made available during mealtimes, and they want to see this change as well.

IHOP is recognizing today, February 23rd as National Pancake Day, and they are raising money with donations that that they receive when you come in and dine on the pancakes for free.

Jack in the Box is offering any of their grilled sandwiches for free if you purchase a large drink. So it's free with a catch. It is only for today as well.

Today is the only day that you can get these offers and you only have until 10 pm tonight to get into IHOP to eat your pancakes. The charities that they collect for are for major charities located in your area. Last year IHOP collected 1.3 million dollars in donations.

Los Angeles Attorney General warns about Forensic Loan Audits

Brown Jr. along with the California Department of Real Estate (DRE) along with the State Bar of California for individuals to stay away from forensic loan audits. The Loan Modification industry has been hit with “phony foreclosure relief service” which is called forensic loan audits.

Consultants are hired to perform a forensic loan audits which takes cash from homeowners that are desperate to fixed their mortgage payments.

"Forensic loan audits are yet another phony foreclosure-relief service hawked by loan-modification consultants trying to cash in on the desperation of homeowners facing foreclosure," Brown said. "The foreclosure-relief industry continues to be long on promises, but short on results."
