San Bernardino County Considers Campaign Finance Reform

San Bernardino County Supervisor Janice Rutherford

(Best Syndication News) A bill signed by Governor Jerry Brown could help pave the way for the county to adopt and enforce new campaign finance reform laws. The new law is welcome news for County Supervisor Janice Rutherford.

Assembly bill 2146, introduced by Assemblyman Paul Cook at the request of the county supervisors, will allow the Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC) to enforce campaign finance rules adopted by the county.

“Now the Board can move forward with adopting campaign finance rules that limit campaign contributions and help thwart influence peddling by deep-pocket donors,” Second District Supervisor Rutherford tells Best Syndication. This will be effective and affordable for the county, according to the supervisor.

San Bernardino County Property Values Increasing

(Best Syndication News) San Bernardino County property values are increasing, according to the county assessor’s office. The Assessor-Recorder Clerk, Dennis Draeger, signed the annual property assessment roll on Friday.

Draeger says the sum of property values hit $162,678,642,449 in 2012. That is up 0.8 percent from 2011. This is good news for homeowners who have seen their values plummet over the last few years – at least until they get their new property tax bill.

County revenue will be increasing, mostly because of the increase in the Proposition 13 inflationary factor, according to Draeger.
