Flaxseed Alternative to Hormone Replacement Therapy – Pre-Menopausal Hot Flashes Controlled With Flax Herbal Supplement

Flax Herbal Supplement

(Best Syndication) Mayo Clinic researchers say that flaxseed can reduce the hot flashes experienced by postmenopausal women who do not take estrogen. This is important because a recent study have found a statistically significant increase in rates of breast cancer, coronary heart disease, strokes and pulmonary emboli in women taking hormone replacement therapy (HRT).

Sandhya Pruthi, M.D., Mayo Clinic specialist and the study’s primary investigator believes the research is important because of the side effects of HRT. Women are looking for alternatives to this therapy. “Hot flashes are a bothersome issue for women experiencing menopause,” says Pruthi. “We hope to find more effective nonhormonal options to assist women, and flaxseed looks promising.”

[Best Syndication] Estrogen deficiency in menopausal women may promote obesity and develop high blood pressure suggests a recent study conducted at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. The study was called, Role of Estrogens in Postmenopausal Obesity and Hypertension." The study was presented at the conference Sex and Gender in Cardiovascular-Renal Physiology and Pathophysiology which was held in Austin, Texas earlier this month.

The researchers used an animal model with rats to determine what role estrogen has with high blood pressure and obesity. The researchers studied 24 older female rates that had their ovaries removed in two-thirds of the group. The remaining one-third of the rats did not have their ovaries removed and were used as a control group. Of the two-thirds that had their ovaries removed they divided them into half getting estrogen therapy and the other not receiving any estrogen.

(Best Syndication) American researchers say that hypnosis can benefit breast cancer patients by reducing the amount of anesthesia administered during surgery and the amount of pain experienced afterwards. This is good news for breast cancer patients who often experience pain, nausea, and fatigue after their operation.

Complications from surgery and its side effects can lengthen the hospital stay and lead to hospital readmission. The pain and other problems can also require additional medications. For this reason it was important to find inexpensive ways to reduce complications.

[Best Syndication] Hypnosis used before a patient went in for breast cancer surgery helped to reduce the amount of anesthesia needed while in the operating room, and afterwards they reported having less pain. The study was first published in the August 28th online edition of the Journal of the National Cancer Institute.

Breast cancer patients have complications of pain, nausea, and fatigue throughout the operation and afterwards. Because of the problems experienced the patient may have to stay in the hospital longer to recover, or may be readmitted because of these problems. There is also more medications that could be prescribed, all of these factors add up to a more expensive procedure on average. Previous studies found that hypnosis was beneficial for surgery. The researchers wanted to test this specifically for breast cancer surgery patients with hypnosis.

Why do people with breast cancer need chemotherapy? The reason is that despite the best efforts of the healthcare team to remove all traces of the tumor, breast cancer can still recur. Even early stage breast cancer can return months to years after the original diagnosis and treatment.

It can come back as a local recurrence (in the treated breast) or as a distant recurrence, also known as metastatic disease, elsewhere in the body, such as the bones, lungs, liver, or other organs. Due to this concern, many oncologists prefer to err on the side of over treating their patients with chemotherapy, lest the person be under treated and sustain a recurrence.
