Starbucks introduces new Nutritious Lunch Meals and Snack Foods to their Stores

(Best Syndication News) - Starbucks (NASDAQ:SBUX) began offering more lunch entrée and snack food selections at their retail stores this week. The new addition is an extension to their healthy breakfast and lunch items that they are currently selling.

Starbucks Bistro Boxes are ready to go lunches with nutrition in mind. They all are under 500 calories and many are less than 400 calories. They have two sizes of these Bistro Boxes, a snack size ($4.95 U.S./ $5.45-$5.95 CAN) and an entrée size ($6.95 U.S./ $6.75 CAN).

Currently Starbucks offers Chicken & Hummus, and Protein and Cheese & Fruit. The new Bistro Box entrée meals and snacks have a variety of tastes. The entrée meals are Chipotle Chicken Wraps, Sesame Noodles, Chicken Lettuce Wraps, and Salumi & Cheese. The snack meals are Tuna Salad, Protein, Chicken & Hummus, and Cheese & Fruit.

Researchers from the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis found long-term financial benefits for obese, whether mild or severe cases, that could benefit from the weight loss surgery. The study was published in the journal Maturitas.

The financial savings were calculated from patients who has undergone bariatric surgery and lost weight. They tended to keep the weight off compared to other methods. Because they kept the extra weight off, this reduced their chances for developing medical complications from diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and hypertension. The researchers said that most severely obese patients usually have these diseases already. Losing the weight could improve their health situation.

Ferriss started working with doctors and used himself as an experiment to see what methods worked best for losing weight. He had ultrasound, blood glucose monitoring, and other data collected to see what worked the best. Dr. Oz said that he read the ‘4 Hour Body’ book and said that it was full of tips.
