Jason Mecier creates Big Foot Portrait for Jack Links Beef Jerky - Jack Links PR

(Best Syndication News) - It seems like every food is getting a national day of honor, so why not beef jerky. Therefore, on June 12, 2012, there will be the first ever National Jerky Day celebrating the history of the dried meat snack.

Jack Link's Beef Jerky company hired renowned mosaic artist, Jason Mecier, to create a one-of-a-kind tribute to jerky. Mecier created a portrait of Sasquatch using the 100 different varieties of Jack Link's jerky products. The portrait of the legendary creature was created for Jack Link to tie in with their current marketing campaign. This artist has created other works of art with common everyday objects.

Mecier made a portrait of actor/comedian Jerry Seinfeld using dry cereal, a portrait of Condoleezza Rice using rice, and a portrait of singer Taylor Swift using Good & Plenty candy. He also made a portrait of Rachel Ray using beans and noodles, and a portrait of Martha Steward by carefully arranging a veggie platter.

‘Frog and Toad’ Book Series to be made into Animated Feature Film

(Best Syndication News) The popular children’s books Frog and Toad are going to be made into an animated feature film. Jim Henson Company announced today that they have acquired the rights to develop the stories into a movie.

The Frog and Toad book series, by Arnold Lobel, include five short stories. The stories are about a frog and his friend toad.

Additionally, Jim Henson Company has reached a multi-category licensing and merchandising program in the US and Canada with HarperCollins Children’s Books for the “Frog and Toad” property.

Science Fiction Author Ray Bradbury Died

(Best Syndication News) - Famous science fiction author, Ray Bradbury, passed away on June 5, 2012 in Los Angeles. He was 91 years old. Several reports said that he succumbed to death after a lengthy illness.

Bradbury’s most noted books include The Martian Chronicles, Fahrenheit 451, and Something Wicked This Way Comes.

Bradbury was born on August 22, 1920 in Waukegan, Illinois. His family relocated to the Los Angeles area when he was 14 years old. He wanted to become an actor when he grew up. After graduating high school, he sold newspapers and worked on becoming a writer. In 1941, he got his first short story, "Pendulum," published in Super Science Stories. His writing career took off from there as he became a full-time writer by the end of 1942 with the magazine.

Kathie Lee Gifford appologized to Martin Short for Interview Blunder

(Best Syndication News) - Kathie Lee Gifford make a mistake interviewing Martin Short on NBC’s ‘Today’ by asking him how he and his wife have been married for so long. Unfortunately, Short’s wife, Nancy Dolman, had passed away two years earlier.

Gifford said during the interview on Wednesday, "He and Nancy have one of the greatest marriages of anybody in show business. How many years now for you guys?"

30th Anniversary special 'E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial' movie to be released on Blu-Ray

(Best Syndication News) - Universal Studios Home Entertainment announced that the film E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial will be released on Blu-Ray in a special 30th anniversary pack in October 2012. The combo pack will have a blu-ray disc, a DVD, a digital copy and Ultraviolet support.

The film has been digitally remastered to have 6 times the resolution of the DVD release and it will also have 7.1 surround sound. The original 1982 theatrical release of the movie, along with an all-new interview with Steven Spielberg will be included on this anniversary release. Additionally, "The E.T. Journals" will include never before seen footage of the movie.
