You may notice a change in both the “Today” show and the “CBS Evening News” this month. Katie Curic has left Today and will begin anchoring the CBS news broadcast. It has been more than three months since she signed-off on the Today show where Meredith Vieira will take over for her.

The evening News program will be a more serious format for the 49 year-old Curic, but she is looking forward to it. She may also be looking forward to the $15 million paycheck. Tom Jicha of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel says Couric hopes she can wean the audience from the “superficial toward the significant”. Curic said "Obviously there is interest because the person who is in front of the camera, introducing segments and doing interviews, is the mainstay of the newscast. But I think people are more interested in the actual content and substance of what they're hearing."
