The 1990’s is well known for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle cartoon series and merchandising, and like all good things they have come around again for a second time, with a shiny new updated look. To start it out they are no longer just Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, just call them “TMNT”. It must be to hard to spell or something. But the full length CGI film shows the superhero turtles in 3D animation which will be in theatres on March 23rd.

To help round out the merchandising, a computer can with the same name “TMNT” video game by Ubisoft is now available for Microsoft’s Xbox360, PlayStation2, PSP, Windows PC, Game Boy Advance, Nintendo DS, Nintendo GameCube and the Ninetendo Wii.

Researchers from the University of Rochester found that people that played action video games had sharper visions than those that did not play on a game console. Those gamers that took visual acuity test had better abilities at seeing objects in a clutter space compared to non-gamers. The study was first published in Psychological Science.

"Action video game play changes the way our brains process visual information," said Daphne Bavelier who is a professor of brain and cognitive sciences at the University of Rochester. "After just 30 hours of training, people who normally don't play video games showed a substantial increase in the spatial resolution of their vision, meaning they could see small, closely packed letters more clearly."

(Best Syndication) Microsoft (Redmond WA) announced their plans to acquire Tellme Networks Inc. (Mountain View, CA). Although the company refused to disclose the price, reports put the value anywhere from $800 million to over $1 billion. Microsoft is expected to pay over $1 billion.

Tellme technology is currently used for voice services, including nationwide directory assistance, enterprise customer service and voice-enabled mobile searches. Microsoft says the technology can also be used for their office suite and mobile search, as well as other applications.

Wirefly announced a list of the most popular PDA cell phones and reports that there has been a sharp increase in the sales of Smartphones.  Wirefly is a popular website that is a comparison shopping site for cell phones and wireless phone plans.
 
Smartphones are cell phones with a built-in multi-capable operating system.  The sales of the Smartphones have grown 70% since the 3rd quarter of 2006 up until the 1st quarter of 2007.
 
Why are people buying Smartphones.  There have been more national advertising campaigns by the cell phone companies explaining the technology, and there has been more models coming out that are stylish and thinner.  There are also extra features such as built in music players.
