Andre Dawson Elected to Baseball Hall of Fame

[Best Syndication News] Andre Dawson was up for the nomination the ninth time which turned in his favor receiving 420 of 539 votes to finally get his to to enter the Baseball Hall of Fame. Last year Dawson missed the honor by 44 votes.

Dawson told the AP in a phone interview that “If you're a Hall of Famer, eventually you're going to get in no matter how long it takes.” He continued to tell them how happy he and his family were when they received the good news.

Dawson baseball career spanned from 1976 – 1996 hitting 438 home runs and 1,591 RBIs. He stole 314 bases in his career and had a total of 2,774 hits. Dawson spent the bulk of his career with the Montreal Expos from 1976 – 1986 and with the Chicago Cubs from 1987-1992. He earned the nickname “The Hawk” and was voted National League 's Rookie of the Year in 1977. In 1987 he was voted the National Leagues Most Valuable Player in 1987.

(Best Syndication News) Informants are telling news organizations that Dodger slugger Manny Ramirez and Boston Red Sox DH David Ortiz were included in the 2003 list of players who tested positive for steroids or performance enhancing drugs. Manny and David helped drive the Red Sox to the championship in 2004 and 2007.

In 2003 Major League Baseball began testing players for drugs, but the results from that year were to remain sealed. Later the government grabbed the list in their ongoing investigation of performance enhancing drugs in professional sports. Now lawyers are spilling the beans anonymously about those involved, but they didn’t identify which drugs.

Jim Rice and Rickey Henderson inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame

[Best Syndication News] Jim Rice and Rickey Henderson both former left-fielders were inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame the past Sunday.

Jim Rice, 56, played for the Boston Red Sox from 1974 to 1989. Rice became the ninth MLB player to have the highest number of total bases in consecutive seasons. Rice set a record by hitting for 400 total bases in a 19 year time span. In eleven seasons he had 20 home runs.

Rice was well known for his power hitting and he batted a .298 with 382 home runs and batted 1,451 runs over his 19 year MLB career. He helped his team by driving 100 runs or more eight times. He had a batting average of .300 seven times during his career. He reached 200 hits four times over the years playing for the Red Sox.

Rice's #14 will be retired by the Red Sox on July 28, 2009 since his induction into the hall of fame.

Chicago White Sox Mark Buehrle pitches Perfect Baseball Game

[Best Syndication News] Mark Buehrle with the Chicago White Sox pitched a perfect game this past Thursday. Buehrle is the 18th to pitch a perfect game for Major League Baseball. It has been five years since the MLB has seen a perfect pitched game.

President Barack Obama telephoned Buehrle and congratulated him for his achievement. Buehrle spoke at a post-game news conference and said that this was an achievement of a lifetime. Chicago fans celebrated the accomplishment.

Buehrle told the press, "I think it's another thing when you retire and you sit back and you see how many perfect games have been thrown in the history [of the sport] and your name's in there. I think that's when you sit back and kind of be surprised."
