Osama Bin Laden Killed After Firefight – Wife Used as Human Shield

(Best Syndication News) Osama Bin Laden was killed Monday in Pakistan by U.S. Navy SEALs. His body was buried at sea after a military operation that may have killed some of his family members.

There were no civilian or American casualties, but some of bin Laden’s family members may have been used as shields.

According to the President, the terrorist leader was killed after the clash with U.S. forces. “After a firefight, they killed Osama bin Laden and took custody of his body,” the President said late Sunday night. There was a report that DNA testing confirmed the identity.

Worldwide Travel Alert issued for US Citizens traveling Internationally

(Best Syndication News) - The US Department of the State has issued a worldwide travel alert for US citizens that are either traveling or visiting outside of the US. The travel alert will expire on August 1, 2011. The warning was in response to the recent death of Osama Bin Laden which could further cause anti-American violence.

The agency recommends that US citizens in anti-American areas should limit traveling outside of their hotel rooms or homes. They should also avoid any mass gatherings or demonstrations.

President Obama announced that Osama Bin Laden is dead

(Best Syndication News) - President Obama announced this evening, May 1, 2011, that Al Qaeda terrorist group leader, Osama Bin Laden is dead. Al Qaeda was responsible for the 9-11 attacks on the New York City World Trade Center buildings almost ten years ago.

The US had received intelligence in August 2010 on the whereabouts of Bin Laden. Last week, US intelligence had enough knowledge to take action. President Obama said that they sent out an operation to attack Bin Laden in a compound in Pakistan. A gun battle broke out and Osama Bin Laden was killed. No US military were killed during this event. President Obama reminded Americans that Bin Laden was not a Muslim leader but was a terrorist leader.

President Obama said that it isn't the end of terrorism. There could be more attacks of terrorism possible. Obama added that justice has been done and commended the service men and women that have served the country in this war.

California officials say Anthem Blue Cross rate increase excessive

(Best Syndication News) - The Anthem Blue Cross health insurance company have scheduled a May 1st rate increase for 120,000 of its members which prompted the California Department of Managed Health Care (DMHC) to publicly call it “unreasonable.” The DMHC is not able to put a halt to the increase premiums. Those that have an Individual PPO plan with Anthem Blue Cross that is under the DMHC jurisdiction are involved with the premium rate increase.

The DMHC wrote to Anthem Blue Cross on April 7th, asking why the company is going to increase the premiums on May 1st when similar plans that are under the California Department of Insurance had a decrease. When the officials at DMHC compared the rate increase for their plans they oversee to the ones under the California Department of Insurance they noticed the rates were 3 to 4 percent higher.

Meetings to be held for Redistricting in California

(Best Syndication News) Local lawmakers are looking for comments on redistricting in California. State Senator Sharon Runner announced two meetings for public input. The first meeting will be held on Saturday, April 30 from 2pm to 5pm at the City of San Fernando City Council Chambers at 117 Macneil Street, San Fernando.

The second meeting will be held Sunday May 1 from 2pm to 5pm at Sierra Toyota, 43301 12th Street West in Lancaster. She says the commission is encouraging public input.

They will use census data to assist in their decision making. Preliminary maps will be drawn up with the first round of draft maps which will be released Friday, June 10.
