America Needs Buchanan's Principles - Not his Candidacy

America Needs Buchanan's Principles - Not his Candidacy

Almost immediately after Pat Buchanan's newest book, State of Emergency, became available for purchase, remnants of the Buchanan Brigades, the Peasants with the Pitchforks, and new converts who have been encouraged that someone finally has the courage to recognize that uncontrolled immigration is hurtful to America's stability began clamoring for him to mount a new run for president.

The idea is personally gratifying because I have witnessed, since the GOP vilification of us populists who rallied around Our Pat in 1996, the country become imperiled because Republican leaders have run from the very issues Buchanan has raised since 1992.

Iranian Standoff – UN Security Council Meets Thursday To Discuss Possible Sanctions

The US State Department said five permanent members of the Security Council and Germany will meet in Berlin next Thursday to discuss actions to take against Iran after the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) reported to the United Nations that Iran has not suspended their uranium enrichment activities. President Bush insists there must be consequences for disobeying this deadline.

Although the US will continue to work with allies concerning this matter, President Bush said “there must be consequences for Iran's defiance, and we must not allow Iran to develop a nuclear weapon."

CNN Bathroom Break Conversation Airs Over President’s Speech – Kyra Phillips Talks on Open Microphone in Restroom

In what could have been a funny “Saturday Night Live” skit, CNN anchor woman, Kyra Phillips was overheard talking to a friend in the bathroom while on break. To add to the confusion, the anchor-woman’s remarks were broadcast over a live speech given by President Bush in New Orleans, one year after the Katrina disaster.

Phillips inadvertently left her microphone on when she took her break. Listeners could her talking about her husband, her brother and his wife, and her father. Although the conversation included a vulgar term dismissing most men, Phillips says she is "very lucky in that regard. My husband is handsome and he is genuinely a loving -- you know, no ego. You know what I'm saying? Just a really passionate, compassionate, great, great human being. And they exist. They do exist. They're hard to find. Yep. But they are out there.”

Is Drug Prohibition Working? Recent Report Says No – ABC News Nightline Describes a Bleak Picture of Nueva Laredo Mexico

Back in January, ABC News Nightline ran a story about the horrible drug violence happening in Nuevo Laredo Mexico, just across the border from Laredo Texas. Last night they ran the same story again and said the violence has gotten worse.

Last year there were about 200 murders in the city, and already this year there have been about the same number. Most observers say the violence will not get better until one of the drug gangs takes over. Rick Saldana, of the DEA said “I think the violence will go down when one or the other cartel gets control of the area or there's a truce between the two." Comment on this Article on our Forum

Iran Expected To Miss United Nations Deadline – Refuses to Suspend Nuclear Program

alt text

The UN Security Council deadline for Iran is due to end Thursday, with little expectation that Iran will halt their uranium enrichment program. On Thursday the UN nuclear watchdog, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), is expected to report that Iran has not halted their program.

The United States has suspected that Iran has been using their nuclear program to develop weapons. According to State Department spokesman Sean McCormack on Wednesday, “It seems as though (the Iranians) have made it a point to try to defy the international community up to this point.”
