United States Missed One-on-One Negotiations with Iran in 2003 Before Nuclear Standoff

Although the United States has entered European sponsored talks with Iran, new information now indicates that we had the opportunity to negotiate with the Iranians in 2003 before they were spinning centrifuges and enriching uranium. A document, which surfaced just recently, has been authenticated by the Washington Post.

Then senior director on the National Security Council, Flynt Leverett described the Iranian correspondence as “a serious effort, a respectable effort to lay out a comprehensive agenda for U.S.-Iranian rapprochement." Washington Post staff writer, Glenn Kessler says that several former administration officials say the United States missed an opportunity in 2003.

Rumsfeld Lashes Out At People Who Don’t Support War in Iraq – Blames Media But Not Himself

As the situation worsens in Iraq the Bush Administration has stepped up criticism of those who oppose the war. Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld compared today’s situation with the situation with Nazi Germany when one country invaded and occupied another country.

It is quite possible Rumsfeld has felt the heat from those who compare the administration’s actions with Hitler’s Germany. He told the American Legion National Convention (August 29th 2006) that “Those who know the truth need to speak out against these kinds of myths and distortions that are being told about our troops and our country.”

JonBenet Ramsey Case – John Mark Karr Charges Dropped

John Mark Karr who was the suspect that recently was taken into custody and flown from Thailand, was released from custody with charges being dropped for the 1996 murder case of JonBenet Ramsey.

It turns out that Karr was looking for a publicity stunt in a very publicized murder case which he was fascinated with. The district attorney dropped the case on Monday and are not proceeding on this case due to the DNA evidence did not match from the crime scene.

CNN reported earlier in the day that the DNA samples of Karr’s saliva and hair did not match the crime scene samples that were collected in 1996. The samples were collected on Friday and were completed this Monday.

Comair Flight 5191 Explodes in Kentucky Killing 49 - Sole Survivor Co-Pilot in Critical Condition

A Comair Commuter jet crashed on takeoff early Sunday and burst into flames at the Blue Grass Airport in Kentucky. The sole survivor, a co-pilot is in critical condition, according to federal investigators. The early reports that the plane was on the wrong runway appear to be the reason for the disaster.

There were 49 people killed when the plane ran off the end of the runway leaving marks in the dirt. In a report from Reuters, NTSB (National Transportation Safety Board) investigator Debbie Hersman says there were "ground scars" at the end of the shorter runway, a smashed perimeter fence and debris from the jet spread out over hundreds of feet (meters) indicated the plane's trajectory was from the shorter runway.
