Mt Baldy Ski Area To Host Redhook California Duathlon

The Redhook California Duathlon has been scheduled for September 12th 2009 at Mt Baldy Ski Area.

The event, sponsored by Redhook Ale and Coates Cyclery, Kona Bikes and Giant Bikes, combines a 10 mile biking and 3 mile running events in one race.

"This could be considered the duathlon of all California duathlons because of the rugged Mr Baldy terrain and the high altitude," states Ole Ellingson, Duathlon coordinator.

“This is a high altitude challenge as competitors will be biking and running at elevations between 6,000 and 8,000 feet.”

“It doesn’t matter whether you’re a first-time duathlete or a hard-core competitor the Redhook California Duathlon and the Mt Baldy terrain will test your endurance and perseverance,”

Michael Phelps sets another new World Record for 100 Meter Butterfly Race

[Best Syndication News] Michael Phelps swam his way to a new world record for the 100 meters butterfly race on Saturday, which makes him successful at breaking thirty-six world records in swimming.

Phelps 100 m Butterfly race set the new world record with a time of 0:49.82 in Rome, Italy at the World Championships.

Phelps was on a winning streak and record breaking swimming at the World Championships and also had broken two other world records.

On July 29th Phelps broke the world record for the 200 m Butterfly with a time of 1:51.51.

On July 31st Phelps broke the world record for the 4x200 m Freestyle Relay with a time of 6:58.55.

Tour de France 2009 winner is Alberto Contador from Spain

[Best Syndication News] The 2009 winner for Tour de France bicycle race is Alberto Contador from Spain. This is Contador's second timing winning the race. The first time he won the first place for the Tour de France was in 2007.

Contador also won the 2008 Giro d'Italia, Vuelta a España race. He is the fifth bicycle racer so far to win all three Grand Tour road cycling races. He is the first Spaniard to accomplish winning all three road races.

Contador previously had allegations of doping and was again accused of this by media during this year's race by Le Monde newspaper, accusing him of doping because of his record setting climb up the Verbier in the history of the Tour. A physiologist disputed the columnist accusations stating that it could be possible to achieve this despite the lowered oxygen levels.

Tour de France Update - Spain's Luis Leon Sanchez wins 8th Stage of Race

[Best Syndication News] The winner of the eighth stage of the Tour de France this Saturday was Spain's Luis Leon Sanchez. This portion of the bicycle race was from Andorra to St. Girons and was 109.6 miles in distance.

Finishing in third place for this stretch of the race was United States favorite, seven-time champion Lance Armstrong, winning the Tour de France in 1999 and each year following through 2006.
