Hostess announces Three Bakeries Closing Permanently due to Strike

(Best Syndication News) - Hostess Brands Inc. announced today that they would be closing three bakery locations permanently because of the strike that started on November 9, 2012. The Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers, and Grain Millers International Union (Bakers Union) initiated the nationwide strike. Hostess was unable to make and deliver their products at these locations because of the strike. However, the majority of Hostess plants continue to operate and the strike would not affect customer delivery of their baked goods.

Hostess Brands CEO Gregory F. Rayburn said in a statement today that 627 employees at the three locations will lose their jobs. He explained that the company warned that there could be facility closures from work stoppage. He warns that if the strike hurts their business enough, they would have to close the entire company.

PayPal to Layoff 325 Employees

(Best Syndication News) - EBay Inc. (NASDAQ: EBAY) announced layoffs of 325 employees from their PayPal business. This is part of eBay’s planned fourth quarter pretax restructuring. Paypal will also be ending around 120 contracts globally.

The 325 employees were notified today of the elimination of their jobs, the majority of which were in the product and technology department. The PayPal business is being consolidated from nine product groups into a single group. EBay said that reorganizing PayPal will help to improve the product development process.

Goodyear announces goal of Hiring 1,000 Veterans over next Three Years

(Best Syndication News) - Steve McClellan, President of Goodyear’s North American tire unit, announced the goal of hiring 1,000 veterans at their company over the next three years. The announcement was made on July 27,2012 at an event held in Akron, Ohio. Goodyear is collaborating with the United States Chamber of Commerce Hiring Our Heroes program.

McClellan explained that Goodyear products have long played a part with the US military. In World War I, Goodyear was manufacturing military tires. Today, Goodyear still works with the military as a supplier. The company also supports the troops via charitable contributions with the ‘Goodyear Gives Back’ program. Goodyear is also committed to supporting employees who are enlisted in the National Guard and Reserve.

Verizon IT Help Desk to be serviced with Best Buy’s Geek Squad Agents

Verizon created the IT Help Desk to solve this problem. They have signed on Best Buy’s Geek Squad to provide the services to these companies.

The Geek Squad Agents would be available to business customers at all hours to help in installing new equipment as well as offering trouble-shooting and other end-user problems when they come up. This could include tuning up the computers with the latest security patches, or configuring tablets to work within the company’s network.

Starbucks to operate Manufacturing Facility in Augusta, Georgia

(Best Syndication News) - Starbucks Coffee Company (NASDAQ: SBUX) held a groundbreaking ceremony on July 13 to begin construction of their first company-owned manufacturing plant in Augusta, Georgia. The plant is expected to cost $172 million to build, and the company will create 140 jobs once the facility is up and running.

The new jobs will require around 75 percent of the workforce to be skilled processing workers. This includes maintenance and engineering technicians, along with roasting operators, soluble process operators, and packaging operators. The management and administrative staff will make up the rest of the jobs.
