County of San Bernardino launches online eProcurement System for Vendors

(Best Syndication News) - The County of San Bernardino announced the launch of an online eProcurement system for vendors to bid for business with the government offices. The newly available system is called the online Electronic Procurment Network System, or ePro for short.

The County acquisitions process is anticipated to be faster, more efficient, and offer better cost savings than previous methods.

Laurie Rozko, the County’s Director of Purchasing said in a statement, "Implementation of the ePro system will provide a faster and more efficient platform from which to manage purchasing countywide while reducing costs for both the county and suppliers."

T-Mobile to eliminate 1,900 Call Center Jobs

(Best Syndication News) - Today, T-Mobile USA, Inc. announced the consolidation of call centers, which will displace 3,300 employees and will eliminate 1,900 jobs. The company said that they would close seven of their call center locations by the end of June.

Philipp Humm, CEO, and President of T-Mobile, said in a statement that they were shrinking their call centers to improve efficiency and to “invest for growth.”

Two HUD Grant Programs offer $95 Million in Funding Opportunities

(Best Syndication News) - The US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) announced the availability of $95 million in funds for two grant programs aimed at helping people who receive HUD rental assistance. One grant helps finance job training and education to help them get better paying jobs. The other grant program is designed to help keep senior citizens or disabled people in their home.

The grant programs are called the Housing Choice Voucher Family Self-Sufficiency Program (HCV-FSS) and the Resident Opportunities and Self Sufficiency Program-Service Coordinator (ROSS-SC).

Housing Choice Voucher Family Self-Sufficiency Program (HCV-FSS) has a deadline to apply by April 24, 2012. This grant program has allocated $60 million for funding education and job training to help Section 8 renters an opportunity to increase their income.

Hostess announces Chapter 11 Bankruptcy for Reorganization

(Best Syndication News) - Hostess Brands, Inc. announced today that they have filed petitions for Chapter 11 bankruptcy for reorganization. This was a voluntary action by the company and its five subsidiaries.

Hostess was able to get $75 million in debtor-in-possession (DIP) financing, however, this is subject to court approval.

The company announced that they plan to continue operating their bakeries, outlets stores, and distribution centers as usual during the Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings.

Store Closings announced for 80 Sears and Kmart Locations

(Best Syndication News) - Sears Holdings Corporation (NASDAQ:SHLD) announced 80 of the 100 – 120 Sears and Kmart stores that are going to be closed. The company did not specify the date they will close each store at this time.

Each store has around 40 – 80 employees, and this could vary depending on the location. The amount of jobs lost from this downsizing could be anywhere between 4,000 and 9,600 positions.

The store closures announced are in 25 states throughout the continental US. The states involved with the 80-store closings are: Alabama, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Washington, and Wisconsin.
