Medical Career Job Fair at Arrowhead Medical Center

(Best Syndication News) The Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) will be holding their fourth annual Health Care Career Opportunities Fair Thursday (June 23, 2011). There will be booths and tours set up for people interested in a medical career.

This is a “mini job fair” by the National Youth Leadership Forum. Director of ARMC, Patrick Petre, will be on hand as an invited speaker.

The medical center is a teaching hospital. Spokesperson for the ARMC, Justine Rodriguez, tells Best Syndication that as a teaching hospital, “ARMC understands that some of today’s high school students will become tomorrow’s health care workers”.

California Unemployment Offices getting over $2 million grant from DOL

(Best Syndication News) - The US Department of Labor (DOL) announced today the distribution of $48.7 million to help aid re-employment and unemployment insurance eligibility assessments in 37 states and the District of Columbia. California's Employment Development Department will receive $2,144,845.

The funding is aimed at speeding up the unemployed workers return into the workplace. They also want to conduct in-person assessments in One-Stop Career Centers to determine if the person is eligible for unemployment insurance compensation.

By keeping contact with the unemployed worker, the One-Stop Career Centers might better be able to offer tools that can help them become hired again.

Amazon adding 200 more jobs at Customer Service Center in North Dakota

(Best Syndication News) - Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ: AMZN) announced the addition of 200 more full-time jobs and hundreds of seasonal workers they will be hiring by the end of 2012 at their Grand Forks Customer Service Center.

The new expanded facility should be finished with construction sometime during October 2011. Amazon is already is seeking applications for the customer service job openings. The customer service jobs includes assisting customers on the telephone as well as by email.

(Best Syndication News) - Some jobs may help you to lose weight while other jobs may promote gaining pounds. A recent Careerbuilder.com survey of 5,600 workers found 43 percent said they gained weight in their current jobs, while 18 percent said they lost weight at their current employer.

What were the reasons that could have contributed to the weight loss? Having a less stressful job, working at a job where you move more, not eating out, eating meals on time, and not having office parties could be potential reasons for the workers who lost weight. According to the survey, several reasons were given for the workers that did gain weight.

The survey found 24 percent gained weight because of a stressful work environment. Thirty-six percent said having a desk job and sitting most of the day is why they gained weight. Eating out regularly was another reason for weight gain for 16 percent of those surveyed. Skipping meals because they lacked time to eat on their job caused people to gain weight 13 percent of the time. Twelve percent said they gained weight because of those birthday and holiday parties at their workplace.

GM announce plans for adding or retaining over 4,000 jobs at 17 locations

(Best Syndication News) - General Motors Co. (NYSE:GM, TSX: GMM) announced plans for adding and retaining over 4,000 jobs at 17 different locations in eight different states. The company also said that they would be investing around $2 billion in the US assembly and component plants.

GM Chairman and CEO Dan Akerson said that they are “confident about demand for our vehicles and the economy.” He also explained at an event at the Toledo Transmission Plant, the company has already invested $3.4 billion and had retained or added over 9,000 jobs since the middle of 2009.

The reason for the GM’s confidence may be due to the increase in their sales for the first four months of 2011. There was a 24.8 percent increase compared to the 2010 sales figures. Additionally, GM had their fifth consecutive profitable quarter since their July 2009 bankruptcy reorganization.
