Wireless Power – CES 2009 Highlights

Powermat 3-PORT MAT Model: M-1510

[Best Syndication News] This year at the 2009 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) the buzz is all about wireless power. Instead of having a cord that you have to plug in to the wall, you can get access to electricity by a magnetic mat. One example is called Powermat who offer a wireless charging mat for your mobile devices.

This could be a really cool way to charge your portable devices. Powermat charging mat will work with electronics that are currently available. You can recharge your cellphone, Apple iPod, your digital camera, Blackberry, handheld games, headsets, GPS, and laptops. In order to get the connection between the device and the charging station you either need a receiver built in the device or a receiver unit for the device so that a transmission of electricity can occur. You can charge up with out all the spaghetti wires that you would have to normally have with each device. The manufacturer has a variety of configurations for recharging your mobile devices. You can see their products at http://www.pwrmat.com/product-line.html. Their website says that they have their products available now in several territories. They just don’t mention where you can actually get the products.

Millions of people browsing the internet for information and entertainment automatically create a market for casual games that can be played through a browser without any additional downloads or installations. Casual surfers of the Net usually have few spare minutes to spend on such games to help them relax and enjoy.

These games in contrast to traditional console or PC games do not need to provide a total immersion experience. They should ideally be payable to a satisfactory finish in few minutes at one sitting. Additionally they should be payable using the mouse alone or minimal amount of keys on the keyboard. However interactivity and reaction time should be high. While they do not need to provide fancy 3D graphics we are used to these days in traditional PC games, they, in order to attract and keep the attention of the gamers, should be colorful and fun with some corresponding sound effects.

[Best Syndication News] Microsoft decided to reduce their prices for their game console to an entry level unit costing the consumer $200. This is to compete with the very popular Ninetendo Wii that is currently selling for $250.

Prior to Microsoft announcing this price reduction, the cheapest Xbox 360 was $280. Microsoft began the price slashing war in Japan, and is going to start the new pricing schedule in the United States this Friday.

The 60 GB version of the Xbox 360 will be reduced from $350 to the new price of $300. The Elite verion of the Xbox 360 will also go down $50 in price to a new price of $400. Microsoft hopes to beat out Sony and Ninetendo for number of game consoles sold. However, IDC analysts believe that they could out sell Sony by a couple million units, but they don't believe that they will out sell Ninetendo. IDC preducts that Nintendo sales will be 44.5 million for wii game consoles by the end of the year, while the Xbox 360 might be more like 27.7 million. Sony they think would be put in last place at 24.2 million if IDC predicts correctly.

Whether you call them addons, macros, mods or scripts, WoW UI mods are all designed to change the user interface for World of Warcraft. The UI can be customized in all sorts of ways and this is the kind of thing that Blizzard encourages developers to due because it makes the game better for players. If you're looking for a way to modify your WoW gaming experience, here's some options you might consider.

Instead of just looking at individual World of Warcraft addons, I thought it might be more useful to consider some of the collections of addons available as they usually come with a whole range of useful mods that you can use and are tidily available in a single download.
