Urban Meyer Will Not Coach in 2010 But May Be On Sideline

(Best Syndication News) Urban Meyer III, the 45 year old head coach of the University of Florida Gators football team, will not be coaching next year, citing health reasons. Offensive Coordinator, Steve Addazio, will temporarily take over the job on an interim basis. Expect ESPN and other news outlets to release the details in a news conference Sunday.

On Saturday Meyer was admitted to a local hospital complaining of chest pains. This is not the first time that Meyer has had health problems. In 1998, Doctors found a non-life-threatening arachnoid cyst on his brain. These cysts are caused by a congenital disorder and develop between the brain and the cranial base / spinal cord.

(Best Syndication News) Wide receiver for the Cincinnati Bengals, Chris Henry, has died today from injuries after falling from the back of a pickup truck on Wednesday. Authorities believe the fall may have been related to a domestic dispute.

Henry has suffered legal and professional setbacks recently, including arrests for driving while under the influence, possession of marijuana, assault, and criminal damaging. The 2005 NFL draft pick was also suspended for the first four games of the 2008 season. He later suffered a broken forearm while playing in a game against the Baltimore Ravens.

Why Risk Not Doing a Cool Down?

A recently published article in the Health section of the NYT provided some confusing if not contradictory information about the best practice of going through a cool down after a period of intense exercise.

The article starts off by nearly dismissing the benefit of the cool down by describing it as something that is only "enshrined in training lore" and not really established by science.

The problem, says Hirofumi Tanaka, an exercise physiologist at the University of Texas, Austin, is that there is pretty much no science behind the cool-down advice.

The cool-down, Dr. Tanaka said, "is an understudied topic."

"Everyone thinks it’s an established fact," he added, "so they don’t study it."

According to the NYT writer it’s not clear what the cool-down is supposed to do. Some say it alleviates muscle soreness. Others say it prevents muscle tightness or relieves strain on the heart.
