Qualcomm Announced Earnings of 73 Cents

(Best Syndication News) Qualcomm announced earnings in-line with what analysts expected Wednesday.

QUALCOMM, Inc. (NASDAQ:QCOM) said their Q3 EPS was $0.73. Analysts had expected 71 cents with a high of $0.76 and low of $0.68. Their GAAP EPS was $0.61 and Non-GAAP EPS was $0.73.

Their revenue was $3.62 billion. Analysts had expected that number to be between $3.42 billion and $3.76 billion. The company hit the upper end of the range with an average of $3.59 billion.

California Home Insurance Premiums average $826

(Best Syndication News) - According to an a report by, the California homeowner paid on average $826 in annual home insurance premiums in the month of February 2011, which was an increase of 2.2 percent from the previous month. In January 2011, the average annual home insurance premium in California was $808.00.

The home insurance premiums have been on an upward climb over the last year of 2010. In October of 2010, the annual average was $749 for home insurance premium rates in California. The national average for home insurance premiums for the month of February 2011 was $710.

What causes the home insurance premiums to cost what they do? There are several factors the insurance company will use when quoting premium rates. According to the Insurance Information Institute, there are seven common factors insurance companies use when determining premium prices.

California officials say Anthem Blue Cross rate increase excessive

(Best Syndication News) - The Anthem Blue Cross health insurance company have scheduled a May 1st rate increase for 120,000 of its members which prompted the California Department of Managed Health Care (DMHC) to publicly call it “unreasonable.” The DMHC is not able to put a halt to the increase premiums. Those that have an Individual PPO plan with Anthem Blue Cross that is under the DMHC jurisdiction are involved with the premium rate increase.

The DMHC wrote to Anthem Blue Cross on April 7th, asking why the company is going to increase the premiums on May 1st when similar plans that are under the California Department of Insurance had a decrease. When the officials at DMHC compared the rate increase for their plans they oversee to the ones under the California Department of Insurance they noticed the rates were 3 to 4 percent higher.

The dollar gained against nearly all major currencies today with the exception of the Canadian (see one-day average chart below). The dollar gained 0.50 percent against the euro, 0.62 percent against the Japanese yen, 0.19 percent against the pound and 0.83 percent against the Swiss franc.

Target Settles Lawsuit with San Bernardino County

(Best Syndication News) San Bernardino and 20 counties and cities settled a lawsuit against Target Corporation (Public, NYSE:TGT).

The San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office tells Best Syndication that the county has settled a $22.5 million civil suit with the corporation. The share price was down 35 cents (-0.68%) to $51.30.

The DA alleged that Target “consistently and repeatedly violated California environmental protection laws in its mishandling of dangerous and harmful products”.
