Fire Threatens Lucerne Valley Market

(Best Syndication News) San Bernardino County fire fighters were called to the Lucerne Valley Market Wednesday morning after residents heard explosions near the establishment.

Tracey Martinez, the Public Information Officer for the department, tells Best Syndication that when firefighters arrived they found a partially enclosed attached work area with large metal rafters filled with “content” fully engulfed in flames. The flames were spreading along the exterior wall and into the attic of the market.

Three sizeable Earthquakes shake in Mexico

(Best Syndication News) - Three sizable earthquakes shook offshore and in Mexico today. The tremors occurred offshore of Baja California Sur, the Michoacan Region, and offshore of Chiapas, with magnitude ratings of 5.0, 5.7, and 6.0 respectively, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS).

The 5.0 magnitude earthquake occurred off the shores of the coast of Baja California Sur at 08:44:37 a.m., local time to the event. The city of Cabo San Lucas was 114 miles from the epicenter. The USGS recorded the location at 21.816°N, 108.437°W. Since the earthquake was far enough offshore, there was not any reports of people feeling the tremor.

The second 5.7 magnitude earthquake happened at 11:38:01 a.m. (local time) in the Michoacan region of Mexico. The nearest city Arcelia, Guerrero, was only 43 miles away from the epicenter. Mexico City was only 128 miles from the earthquake. The USGS received reports of people feeling it in Mexico City as weak to light shaking for the most part. Some people closer to the epicenter reported sustaining light to moderate damage.

(Best Syndication News) - The US Geological Survey recorded a 6.9 magnitude earthquake in Baja California, Mexico at 12:15:48 AM local time to the event this Thursday morning. Preceding this earthquake just minutes earlier, at 12:06:01 AM local time, was a 6.2 magnitude earthquake in the same area.

The 6.2 magnitude earthquake was located at 28.841°N, 113.072°W, while the 6.9 magnitude earthquake's location was at 28.790°N, 113.142°W. There have been a few aftershocks of 4.2, 4.4, and 4.9 magnitude ratings.

Residents in the city of San Luis reported the 6.9 magnitude as being strong and having some light to moderate damage to property. People as far away as San Diego reported feeling the tremor.

(Best Syndication News) - Today was an unusually active day for sizeable earthquakes over the 5.0 magnitude rating. Besides the Indonesian earthquake with numerous aftershocks, there also was a 6.5 magnitude earthquake near Michoacán, Mexico, a 5.9 magnitude tremor off the Oregon coast, and a 5.5 magnitude quake at the Aleutian Islands, Alaska, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS).


A 7.0 Magnitude Earthquake in Mexico was downgraded to 6.5 rating later by the USGS government agency. The location of the center of the event was 18.272°N, 102.732°W. The earthquake was only 38 miles from the city of Las Guacamayas, 39 miles from the city of La Orilla, and 41 miles from the city of La Mira. The popular vacation city of Acapulco was 210 miles away from the earthquake’s epicenter. Residents as far as Mexico City reported feeling the earthquake. There was only some light damage reported to the USGS.

Massive 8.6 Magnitude Earthquake shakes offshore of Indonesia

(Best Syndication News) - A major 8.6 magnitude earthquake shook off the coast of Sumatra, Indonesia this Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at 02:38:37 PM local to the event. The US Geological Survey (USGS) downgraded the earthquake from an 8.9 down to an 8.6 magnitude.

The USGS reported the location of the 8.6 magnitude earthquake event was at 2.311°N, 93.063°E. The closest city was 269 miles, which was Banda Aceh, Sumatra, Indonesia.

There have been around 22 aftershocks above 5.0 magnitude ratings, with one measuring in as an 8.2 magnitude earthquake. Nearby, another fault may have been triggered from the 8.6 tremor in the North Indian Ocean with around eight earthquakes measuring over 5.0 magnitude rating.
