Gerald R. Ford, the 38th and only unelected president in America's history died Tuesday at the age of 93. His wife Betty Ford said in a statement "My family joins me in sharing the difficult news that Gerald Ford, our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather has passed away at 93 years of age. His life was filled with love of God, his family and his country."

Although the statement did not give the location of his death, it is believed the 38th President died at approximately 11:49 p.m. of a severely impacted bowel obstruction at his home in Rancho Mirage California (near Palm Springs East of Los Angeles). President Bush said “Laura and I are greatly saddened by the passing of former President Gerald R. Ford. President Ford was a great American who gave many years of dedicated service to our country.”

The Godfather of Soul, James Brown, died Christmas day around 1:45 a.m. (eastern time) of congestive heart failure after being admitted to Emory Crawford Long Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia on December 24, 2006.

He had attended a toy giveaway on Friday in Augusta Georgia. On Saturday he went to his dentist in Atlanta. At that time his dentist told him that something was wrong and he needed to see a doctor right away.

On Sunday Browns’ agent, Super Frank, told CNN that the 73 year old performer was not in intensive care and that he had severe pneumonia. He has been considered the “hardest working person in show business”, and at that time his agent thought he would be performing a song for Anderson Cooper's New Year's Eve special on CNN. According to the report he was scheduled to perform two shows New Year's Eve at the B.B. King Blues Club & Grill followed by a stretch of shows across Canada in January.
