see video below

[Best Syndication News] Travis Pastrana achieved a new world record on New Years Eve when he jumped his race car off of the Pine Street Pier in Long Beach, California and landing on a barge that was positioned to catch him in the harbor. Pastrana cleared 269 feet in the air and the grand event which happened shortly after midnight was televised by ESPN. The event was sponsored by Redbull.

Pastrana raced his Subaru down the Pier and made his jump. When he landed he slid his car sideways and hit a fenced barricade to make his car come to a stop. He was not injured in the stunt and came out of the car to meet the crowd of around 20,000 spectators.

Pastrana is becoming a regular daredevil as he has jumped out of an airplane without a parachute to have someone with a parachute catch up with him for a safe landing.
