(Best Syndication News) November is National Adoption month. This month is an opportunity to shine the spotlight on the 62,000 California children who live in foster homes awaiting adoption.
Statewide, California will promote adoption and adoption awareness through activities, including adoption finalizations, agency fairs, calling out ceremonies and candlelight vigils. Many counties across California and the nation, such as Los Angeles and San Francisco, will host similar events.
I am sponsoring an event in Sacramento on Nov. 21 with my colleague Assemblyman Roger Niello, of Sacramento, and my son and daughter-in-law who adopted a child five years ago. As a matter of fact, Sharon and I adopted our beautiful daughter, Rebekah (now 22 years old and serving in the Coast Guard) when she was an infant.

(Best Syndication News) Earlier this month, I joined 215 of my colleagues (including 39 Democrats) in opposition to the House Majority Leadership health care bill that passed the House. Unfortunately, if enacted, this legislation could increase your taxes, kill jobs, cost over $1 trillion, and create a government-run system that will lead to millions of Americans losing their current health coverage.
Coming in at over 2,000 pages, the Majority health care bill puts the federal government at the center of American health care. Under this bill, small businesses and individuals could see their taxes raised immediately, but will see no benefits until 2013.

"The county is honored to be able to provide the people of Colton with a library safety net during these painful economic times."

(Best Syndication News) SAN BERNARDINO – The San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors yesterday approved a plan to operate a joint Sheriff’s facility with the City of Adelanto, which will consolidate administrative operations and save Adelanto more than $400,000 per year.
“This is an example of how jurisdictions can work cooperatively to improve efficiency, reduce costs and improve service to the public,” said First District Supervisor Brad Mitzelfelt. “This also will provide our patrol deputies with a more spacious facility and free up room at the Victor Valley station in Victorville to expand operations there.”

“This funding will allow the museum to reach our High Desert young people with interesting programs that will get them excited about science and the natural world,” said First District Supervisor Brad Mitzelfelt. “I would like to thank the San Bernardino County Museum Association and The Community Foundation for this generous gift.”
