San Bernardino County Placed on CreditWatch Negative after Lawmakers Fail to Reach Agreement

(Best Syndication News) The San Bernardino County Auditor-Controller/ Treasury and Tax Collector, Larry Walker, tells Best Syndication that the county investments have been placed on CreditWatch with Negative Implications by the Standard and Poor’s ratings agency.

This CreditWatch comes after the rating agency place the U.S. government on CreditWatch Negative. Tracy Calentti, with the Auditor’s office said that other local sovereigns were also placed on Negative CreditWatch.

Standard & Poor’s Ratings Services placed its AAAf long-term rating for the San Bernardino County Investment Pool on CreditWatch with Negative Implications leaving the S1+ volatility rating unchanged. This action was directly related to the CreditWatch Negative issued by Standard & Poor’s on the AAA/A1+ credit ratings of the United States of America (its agencies and instrumentalities).

Local Representative says Legislation will give local schools flexibility

(Best Syndication News) Rep. Howard P. “Buck” McKeon (R-CA) tells Best Syndication that the “The State and Local Funding Flexibility Act” will provide states and local school districts flexibility in how federal education funds are used.

McKeon says that every state, school and classroom is different. “It has been proven times over that our national education system works best when choice and flexibility are granted to local administrators, teachers, and parents as well,” he said.

“Funding can be pulled from specified programs to be used for things such as school improvement grants, aid for the disadvantaged, reading first, math and science partnerships, innovation programs, and rural and low-income programs.”

President Obama will hold Town Hall meeting on Twitter July 6

(Best Syndication News) - President Obama will be answering questions during a Twitter Town Hall meeting from the White House. It will be on Wednesday, July 6, at 2 p.m. ET (11 a.m. PT).

Prior to the event, you can visit, http://askobama.twitter.com/ and ask the questions that you would like to have answered. The questions should be about the economy and jobs.

This is the first time that a Twitter Town Hall has been hosted at the White House. Twitter co-founder and Executive Chairman, Jack Dorsey, is moderating the event.

County Begins Redistricting Process

(Best Syndication News) The County of San Bernardino has begun a redistricting process now that final numbers have been provided from the U.S. Census. The county, which does this every 10 years, is looking for public input.

The 2010 Census found that there are has 2,035,210 residents living within the borders. The Board of Supervisors must now parse the information to determine their supervisory districts.

The districts need to of equal population, with deviations as close to zero as possible. The deviation between the largest and smallest district should not exceed three percent.

Meetings to be held for Redistricting in California

(Best Syndication News) Local lawmakers are looking for comments on redistricting in California. State Senator Sharon Runner announced two meetings for public input. The first meeting will be held on Saturday, April 30 from 2pm to 5pm at the City of San Fernando City Council Chambers at 117 Macneil Street, San Fernando.

The second meeting will be held Sunday May 1 from 2pm to 5pm at Sierra Toyota, 43301 12th Street West in Lancaster. She says the commission is encouraging public input.

They will use census data to assist in their decision making. Preliminary maps will be drawn up with the first round of draft maps which will be released Friday, June 10.
