Planned Parenthood Funding and Government Shutdown Dilemma

(Best Syndication News) Planned Parenthood funding may get cut if Republicans in Congress get their way. Critics of the program say that the organization has taken $500 million in profits over the last nine years.

The Susan B. Anthony List, a pro-life entity that has spent over $500,000 to de-fund Planned Parenthood (PP), says it is not worth shutting down the government to save this program.

“It is extraordinary that the President sees federal funding for the nation’s number one abortion provider as more important than paychecks for federal workers and funding for our military,” Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of SBA List said.

Paul Ryan Calls for Deep Cuts in Budget

(Best Syndication News) Congressman Paul Ryan and the Republicans in Congress have put forth their budget proposal that would cut $6 trillions from the deficit over the next ten years.

The Congressman said that no “one” party or person is responsible for the “looming crisis”, but “since President Obama took office, our problems have gotten worse.” He said that America is loosing its “safety net” for the poor.

But not all members of Congress are on board. Nancy Pelosi tweeted: “Path to Poverty budget eliminates guaranteed benefits for seniors under Medicare”. The Democratic Congresswoman from California said the “Ryan budget is a path to poverty for America's seniors & children and a road to riches for big oil”. She went on to call the proposal “immoral”.

Representative McKeon Joins Others in Defending the DOMA

(Best Syndication News) Congressman Buck McKeon has joined other Republicans in Congress to protect the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA).

The law, which was signed into law by President Bill Clinton, has come under fire from the Obama Administration. There have been several lawsuits filed against the United States concerning its constitutionality.

Last month Attorney General Eric Holder released a memo regarding the lawsuits, which his office will have to handle. Holder said that the law may not stand up to constitutional scrutiny.

(Best Syndication News) - Presidents Day is tomorrow, and to pay tribute to all those that were elected to lead the United States, Google has a special interactive trip through all of them. You have to have Google Earth plug-in installed on your system and then you can watch a tour of all the presidents were they came from and pinpointed on the map.

As you progress through time and the United States of America boundaries change as the nation expands westward. It is interesting to see that many of the early Presidents came from Virginia.

When you take the tour you get a picture of each president along with their name where they came from along with their birth and death year. If you are interested in learning more about the president there is a link to Wikipedia.org for more reading.

Republicans Respond to State of Union Address

(Best Syndication News) Republicans want to continue to focus on jobs and the economy. Following the State of the Union Address by President Barack Obama, Congressman Buck McKeon, Republican from the high desert and Santa Clarita, said he hopes the legislative and executive branches will work together.

The House of Representatives recently voted to repeal Obamacare. The goal is to cut spending and create jobs.
