Google is planning
to launch Google Payments, GBuy, for all websites instead just having it
on Google Base. Google will soon become a direct competitor to Paypal
which is owned by eBay.
Google Base is a
classified ad format that you can sell your item for free. Google Base
is a free place to put your information on their website. If you have
content such as podcasts you can post them up here. You can also sell
your items as well.
Google Base pages
may be included in their Google search engine, Froogle (which is a
comparison shopping search engine), and Google Maps.
Google Base could
be used as another marketing means for your company to help sell your
products. If you have considered promoting your services by podcast you
can distribute them at Google Base and it is free to do this
The new payment
system by Google should happen at the end of June. Advertisements with
Google Ads were merchants have accepted GBuy payments will have Google’s
seal of approval as a “trusted GBuy merchant” as an added perk. This
GBuy logo will hopefully help to improve consumer confidence. Customers
will not only click on the ad, but will also complete the sale.
Google is becoming
an all in one location for people. It has expanded into resources such
as satellite maps, online books, blogs, news, and online selling. The
online payment system will help in matching the other search engine
giant, Yahoo.
Will Google put
eBay business in the dumps? It would be difficult to remove the loyalty
of all eBay buyers, however if the price is free to list, GoogleBase
will attract a number of sellers. Where the sellers are is where the
buyers will eventually go.
