Career Schools
offer education needed to becoming employable in specialized work. Some
of the most in demand jobs are related to the health care industry.
These careers include Medical Assistant, Health Information Technology,
Physical Therapy Assistant, Dental Assistant, and Respiratory Therapist.
For these types of
careers it would be beneficial to have classroom hands on training.
There are many vocational schools all over the United States. Depending
on the program they can sometimes be completed in less than one year’s
time.
Make sure to visit
a few different campuses of different schools, if you have access to
more than one school. You can compare the quality of the school, and
the cost of the school. Ask them which employers they work with to help
get you hired at the end of the program. Many times, they have work
opportunities at the end of training to help you get a job in the
field. It does not guarantee employment, but it can help you get into
the field quickly and easily.
Depending on your
financial situation, you could qualify for financial aid and also may be
awarded a scholarship. This can help to finance the cost of education.
If you are not
certain on the specific career in health care that you would like to do,
you can visit the US Bureau of Labor Statistics website for in-depth
analysis of what to expect with a career in each field. The site is at
bls.gov and will have in-depth information. The site will cover all
training needed along with where employment occurs, expected working
hours, and expected income.
Not all careers
will offer a large paycheck, but usually will be a boost compared to
minimum wage jobs. The good part with training in a specialized field
with a vocational school is that you get working knowledge in a short
time period that prepares you for employment in that field. It also
makes your resume look good, and you have many employers that look for
employees that have completed trade school training for that particular
job.
