High Definition HD-DVD Movies Titles and Toshiba HD-DVD Players now Shipping

HD-DVD release of "Serenity"

The first HD-DVD titles are coming out this Tuesday. The Toshiba players for which they will play on are arriving at various retailers and online storefronts this week. The price tag for the Toshiba HD-DVD is $499.99. The Sony Blu-Ray High Definition HD-DVD is on pre-order and listed at $999.99.

The HD-DVD titles to be anticipated to be released on Tuesday are “Serenity”, “The Last Samurai”, and “The Phantom of the Opera.” “Million Dollar Baby” was postponed for today’s release.

Toshiba is initially shipping 10,000 HD-DVD players for its release of the new technology. The movie distributors will match with 10,000 copies of the titles being released.

HD-DVD movies will be released as follows:

“Doom” release date April 25^th
“Jarhead” release date May 9^th
“Cinderella Man” release date May 9^th
“Assault on Precinct 13” release date on May 9^th
“The Chronicles of Riddick” release date on May 23^rd
“The Bourne Supremacy” release date on May 23^rd
“Van Helsing” release date on May 23^rd
“U-571” release date on May 23^rd

Some of the retailers that will carry the HD-DVD titles and the HD-DVD Toshiba players are Best Buy, Sears, Wal-Mart, Costco, and Tweeters and online at Amazon.
