CBS television
broadcasting station has further made their presence on the internet on
Thursday by launching their own online TV website called Innertube.
Innertube address
the competitions for the TV watching online, not only from Google Video,
but also youtube.com and itunes.com. Many websites are charging for
some shows, and mixing in free shows as well. This mixed free and paid
for TV online is what CBS’s inntertube website will more likely do in
the future, but at this time it is all free.
The free TV
viewing will be sponsored with advertisements from the following
companies: Cadbury Schweppes, Chili's, Pier 1 Imports Brinkmann Corp.
and Verizon SuperPages.com.
Once the show airs
on the regular broadcast TV, CBS will put the show online to be
available to watch for free. This is great boost for building their
broadcasting and online presence. If you missed your favorite CBS TV
show you can watch it online to catch up.
Watching TV over
the internet does have some downfalls in the resolution quality and this
makes it a little difficult to want to watch TV online. The market for
TV watching online is usually for young adults and college students.
CBS is broadcasting online only shows called "Greek to Chic," which is
a college-based reality series. They are also broadcasting a behind the
scenes making of “Survivor” called "Beyond Survivor."
The Innertube
website used a dark purple on black with small fonts making it extremely
difficult to navigate even for people with the best eyes. I am sure
that they will revamp their website very soon to improve the navigation
of this website. Once they get the navigation improved, I think they
will have a great website.
