Fox’s second season of the show “So You Think You Can Dance” is back on
Wednesday nights. According to Nielsen Media Research there were 10.4
million viewers who tuned into watch this past week. The new summer
original show by CBS, “Game Show Marathon” did not do as well with only
6.9 million viewers.
“So You Think You Can Dance” is a spin off from the “American Idol”
show. It is produced by 19 Entertainment Ltd. and Dick Clark
Productions. Currently the show is traveling across the United States
to give out airplane tickets for the finalists to compete against the
best dancers.
The show this past Wednesday was in Chicago with all different types of
dance styles. A tap dancer and a break dancer made it to the finals.
They also showed the not so talented dancers. One dancer was more of a
comedian than a dance number, although very entertaining. It was fun to
watch, and sometimes hard to watch as they criticized the dancers.
Some of the participants that went to the auditions slept out overnight
on the sidewalks just to get an opportunity to be part of the show. The show will get 20
finalists to compete over the next 12 weeks. It should make this summer
a bit more fun since reruns are in full swing now.
Just like in the “American Idol” series Simon Fuller is replaced with a
grumpy judge Nigel Lythgoe. The show was created by Simon Fuller, so he
can’t be all that bad right?
