One of the oldest
golf tournaments is set to begin its 135th year at the 2006
British Open being hosted at the Royal Liverpool Golf Club for the 11th
time. ABC-TV and TNT will cover this year’s golf tournament.
The first British
Open was held back in 1897. In 1930, Bobby Jones made history at the
Royal Liverpool. Tiger Woods will get his chance to win at this year’s
British Open. This will be the first time that Tiger has played at this
golf course in Hoylake, England.
It has been many
years since the British Open has been held in Liverpool. Most of the
golf champions are young and will be playing this golf course for the
first time. One player that has had play time on the Hoylake golf
course is Phil Mickelson. He has been scouting out the major
championship courses for the past couple of years to practice on each
one. Tiger Woods is likely to be the best golfer on this course and
most believe he will win.
The 2006 British
Open starts on July 20th and goes through the 23rd.
