The Internet has made a home based business easier than ever. Some
potential business include: Selling on eBay, Medical Transcriptionist,
Writers, Paralegals and Virtual Assistants, just to name a few. Each
business has its benefits and drawbacks. Some of the businesses require
money to begin, while others are virtually free to start.
Talk to many home business owners and they will tell you they “love
it”! There is no commute, no boss, and possibly no day care. The
downside is that you need to put money aside for your taxes, there are
no 401K’s (unless you set up your own), no health insurance (unless you
set up your own) and you need to be self motivated.
Jordan McCollum, in an article on Best Syndication, said
Medical Transcriptionists can choose their own hours, enjoy
excellent pay, job security and satisfaction. According to McCollum,
there is a quick entry process and more and more transcriptionists are
working from home.
Ebay poses a big challenge to anyone wanting to start a home business.
If you want to sell products on the Internet, the site that will most
likely make it happen for you is
eBay. Yahoo, Amazon and Overstock have auction and store sites and
you may want to compare sales among those site. Just pick out the items
you intend to sell and see how well they sell on each site.
The drawback to eBay is the customers. Dealing with customers can be a
major challenge, especially when threats of negative feedback occur.
Some customers are looking for something for nothing. eBay will usually
require an initial investment. Besides paying for products, you will
need to budget listing and final valuation fees. There are many online
resources for those wanting to sell on eBay.
In an article titled “How to Hire a Virtual Assistant - Your 10-Step
Guide to Finding the Perfect Fit”, Danielle Keister says a
Virtual Assistant can charge $35 to $65 per hour. She describes
some important things to consider when operating a virtual assistant
business. Danielle says that you need to stress you training and
experience on a professionally done website.
The ideas for a home business are endless. You could create a resume
writing business, or a
travel agency,
photography, or if you have some expertise, start a consulting
business. You don’t even need to work it full time at first. You can
start your business on the side at night and on the weekends. Many
entrepreneurs start out this way and it turns into something big. |
