Amazingly, it appears some women that undergo fertility treatments are
less likely to get pregnant than those that don’t. These treatments can
be very expensive and produce multiple births, so researchers in the
Netherland hope to identify women with unexplained infertility.
About 10 percent of couples have trouble conceiving after one year of
trying. Of these, one third do not have any obvious problems.
The most common treatment is intrauterine insemination (IUI). This
involves collecting sperm and medically inserting it into the uterus.
Fertility drugs are then prescribed which stimulate egg production.
