Saving money can give a person a great feeling. The Internet has made
saving money much easier by reducing the amount spent by the customer
and by giving the business the opportunity to sell more products. If
you dont go to their restaurant or business, you will be going
somewhere else; so why not offer a coupon? The ABC News program Good
Morning America has been running a $100 A Day in May series that
highlights this opportunity.
Special correspondent, Stephanie Nelson, mentioned a few methods of
saving money using online sources. First she mentioned the
Entertainment Book that is packed full of coupons. They usually
sell for $30 and include hundreds of pages of offers. The book will
cost less money off season. We just checked and right now the company
is offering the book for just $7.99 online, plus one dollar shipping.
The book will include discounts from 10% to 40% and even some
two-for-one offers. Typically people will use the book for their
two-for-one savings on restaurants. At just $8.00 it does not take long
for the book to pay for itself. The book also offers savings on health
clubs, car rentals, theme parks and more. The company also offers more
replacement coupons online for registered book purchasers.
Stephanie recommends buyers of the book to keep the book in their car.
The number one reason people dont use coupons is because the coupon is
unavailable when they are out and about.
For those that do not want to use coupons or may be embarrassed,
Stephanie mentioned another program called
Rewards Network. Because the cost of annual membership is $49 this
program may only be good for those that eat-out or travel frequently.
All you need to do is register your credit card with the Rewards
Network. This method will give you a cash rebate into your account
every time you use that credit card at a participating client. Your
rebates are automatically applied to your credit card. You may even
receive a unexpected rebates when you use the card for a product or
service where you were unaware a rebate was available.
Some sites will offer a discount if you make a reservation online.
Stephanie mentioned that
Dinner Broker has restaurants listed by geographic location. You
can shop for a restaurant online by just entering the number in your
party, the date and time and you will be given a series of choices.
Another similar service is
Open Table. Stephanie says you can also earn points using these
services towards gift certificates and other discounts. You may even
get a gift certificate by referring a friend.
Stephanie mentioned
Restaurant.com that offers discounts for gift certificates. For
instance, she said that you may be able to purchase a $25 gift
certificate for $10. With a coupon you may be able to get the
certificate for just $5. We checked, and amazingly those discounts are
available.
There may be ways you can combine offers as well. For instance, if you
use a coupon from the Entertainment Book you may also be able to get the
discount on the Rewards Network. In these times of inflation, it is
always good to save money.
