Super Bowl 40 Statistics – Controversial Touch Down Calls
and Final Score
The Seattle Seahawks and the Pittsburgh Steelers square off Sunday in
Super Bowl 40 (XL). The Steelers were not expected to be there. They
were not supposed to survive three consecutive road games to make it
there. But they did.
This year the Super Bowl will be in Detroit. “Detroit would be a frozen
and forlorn destination. An easy target for any hack with a computer or
microphone. But it hasn't been”, according to Mike Lopresti of USA
Today. Many have criticized Detroit for their declining economy. The
Big 3 have announced major layoffs. The ridership of their People Mover
has long been a symbol for what people think is wrong with the city,
according the ABC News.
According to
Boomer Esiason, in an article he wrote for the NFL “All in all, it's
about the Seattle offense's ability to handle Pittsburgh's 3-4
defense and the pressure that Porter and safety Troy Polamalu will
try to deliver.” It will be important for Roethlisberger to be
patient and control his emotions as he faces Seattle's zone
coverages.
The Steeler fan presence will be huge. Since Detroit is so much closer
to Pennsylvania, the majority of the crowd is expected to be from
Pittsburgh. But will it make a difference? The odds makers favor the
Steelers by 4 points anyway.
