Today I feel better about myself
as well as others than I have felt since 1977 because I now
know for a certainty that I didn't imagine all that happened
then or the related happenings since then.
I have asked you as well as the
House Committee on Intelligence and the Permanent Select
Committee on Veteran's Affairs to investigate this entire
matter. I have learned that Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney
has a bill in the House Government Reform Committee to re-open
the MLK assassination investigation. My request for an
investigation was a personal response after finding 'The
Book'. To me this was prima facie evidence that I had been
criminally maligned as well as defrauded of payments of
monies for work that I had done and obligated to continue to
do until a legitimate resolution of the matter. Here I find
myself in a conflict with my 'Christian Responsibility'.
What I think is best for
myself now may or may not be what is best for my country. I
am awakening to the reality that my judgment has sometimes
been affected by the mental stress of the fear, intimidation
and then again the call of duty felt in the midst of it all.
I don't feel the fear and intimidation so much anymore.
Now the immediate concern for me is justice. My understanding
of justice in the matter may not be the same as yours but I
must try to express my belief to you at this time.
First of all, since the House
Select Committee on Assassinations was the employer and since
the HSCA Chief Counsel Richard Sprague was their legal
representative who gave me the assignment and later the Deputy
Chief Counsel Robert Lehner said that the HSCA had agreed to
pay our expenses ('our' being the legal team of the Office of
Jack Kershaw representing James Earl Ray in the interviews and
the HSCA in the associated investigation-these are facts
established by the recorded interviews) and;
You are my congressional
representative in the House of Representatives today and I
have only since January 21 had knowledge of the compelling
evidence then I am asking you for the following relief in this
matter.
1. Payment for work that I have
done since 1977 plus interest.
2. Payment for breach of
contract by the US Government.
3. Payment for Pain and
Suffering that this has caused me and my family of a wife, 6
children and 8 grandchildren.
4. And other payments not yet
identified but may be found by you, myself or others.
I will copy this email to other
interested parties.
Editors Note: This is a copy
of a letter sent to
Congressman Brad Sherman.
